    摘要: The invention provides a novel method for providing the surface of various kinds of substrate articles, e.g. sapphire, quartz, alumina, metals, glass, plastics and the like with a coating layer of an amorphous silicon carbide of the formula Si.sub.x C.sub.1-x, in which x is a positive number of 0.2 to 0.9, by exposing the surface of the substrate article to an atmosphere of plasma generated in a gaseous atmosphere of an organosilicon compound having no halogen or oxygen atom directly bonded to the silicon atom, such as hexamethyl disilane, optionally admixed with a vapor or gas of a hydrocarbon compound, e.g. methane, benzene and the like.

    摘要: A method of producing a carbon fiber composite resin material including (a) a first mixing step, (b) a second mixing step, and (c) a step of curing a second mixture. In the first mixing step (a), an epoxy resin is mixed with an epoxidized elastomer to obtain a first mixture. In the second mixing step (b), vapor-grown carbon fibers having an average diameter of 20 to 200 nm and an average length of 5 to 20 micrometers are mixed with the first mixture to obtain a second mixture in which the vapor-grown carbon fibers are dispersed. In the step (c) of curing the second mixture, the second mixture is cured to obtain a highly rigid carbon fiber composite resin material.

    摘要: A carbon fiber composite material having an elastomer and vapor-grown carbon fibers dispersed in the elastomer. The vapor-grown carbon fibers are rigid fibers having an average diameter of 20 to 200 nm, an average length of 5 to 20 micrometers, and an average value of bending indices defined by the following expression (1) of 5 to 15, Bending index=Lx÷D  (1) Lx: length of linear portion of the vapor-grown carbon fiber, and D: diameter of the vapor-grown carbon fiber. The carbon fiber composite material has a dynamic modulus of elasticity (E′) at 150° C. of 30 MPa or more and an elongation at break (EB) of 140% or more.
