    Abstract: Systems and methods allow access stations to save power when no user equipment (UE) devices require service from the access station. The access station may enter a low power-consumption mode (or “sleep mode”) when the access station is inactive. The access station transmits a beacon signal when in the low power-consumption mode to indicate to UE devices in a coverage area of the access station that the access station is in the low power-consumption mode. The access station receives a wake-up signal from a device and, in response, exits the low power-consumption mode.

    Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are provided to store traffic management data that indicates different levels of congestion that are each correlated to a different category of application of an end device, a type of congestion mechanism including at least one of access class barring, enhanced access class barring, service specific access control, application specific congestion control for data communication, or unattended and background data traffic, and barring parameters; receive a request for wireless service; obtain a level of congestion; determine that the request cannot be granted based on the level of congestion; select one of the levels of congestion based on the level of congestion; generate a first barring message based on the type of congestion mechanism, barring parameters, and category of application correlated to the one of the levels of congestion; and transmit the first barring message to the end devices.

    Abstract: A computer device may include a memory storing instructions and a processor configured to execute the instructions to select a broadcast method for a wakeup signal for a wireless communication device; instruct a base station to broadcast the wakeup signal using the selected broadcast method; and provide information identifying the selected broadcast method to the wireless communication device. The processor may be further configured to receiving a wakeup request from a machine-type communication interworking function (MTC-IWF) device; map the received wakeup request to a wakeup signature beacon signal associated with the wireless communication device; and instruct the base station to transmit a wakeup signature beacon signal to the wireless communication device based on the received wakeup request.

    Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to more efficiently use subcarriers allocated to a narrowband channel of a wireless telecommunications network. For example, a base station may identify a middle subcarrier of the narrowband channel and partition the middle subcarrier into additional subcarriers. The additional subcarriers may include a direct circuit (DC) subcarrier occupying a middle bandwidth of the middle subcarrier, and a synchronization subcarrier and a paging subcarrier on either side of the DC subcarrier. The synchronization subcarrier may be dedicated exclusively to communicating synchronization information, and the paging subcarrier may be dedicated exclusively to communicating paging information. The synchronization information may include a preamble signal, a Primary Synchronization Signal (PSS), and a Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS) that are repeated over consecutive frames. The paging information may include paging codes that devices may passively listen for in order to be paged by the base station.

The method further includes sending the modified E-SPID to at least one enhanced evolved node b (eNodeB) associated with the at least one MTC user device, wherein the at least one enhanced eNodeB is operable to perform access control and scheduling for the at least one MTC user device based on the E-SPID.

    Abstract: A base station may receive repetitive data transmitted using a particular set of radio resources The base station may apply a first orthogonal pattern, assigned to a first user equipment (UE), to a segment of subframes of the received repetitive data.     Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium provide to generate a paging message that includes a group identifier that identifies a group of end devices to which a paging pertains; broadcast the paging message in response to the generation; start a timer in response to the broadcast of the paging message; generate, in response to a first time interval calculated by the timer, a first message that includes at least one of a sub-group identifier, which identifies a sub-group of the end devices of the group to which the paging pertains, or an individual identifier, which identifies one of the end devices of the group to which the paging pertains, wherein the first message is generated based on a radio access-radio network temporary identifier (RA-RNTI) value; and broadcast the first message in response to the generation of the first message.
