Abstract:
A bicycle wheel including a hub and a rim coupled to the hub. The wheel also includes a cover that is coupled to rim and that defines a bead seat engageable by a tire. The rim can have a first annular feature and the cover can have a second annular feature that is complementary to the first annular feature to attach the cover to the rim.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an aircraft wheel comprising a rim and a tyre (20) received on the rim, the rim comprising two parts (1; 2) assembled with one another by means of assembly bolts (5), one of the parts comprising a recess (3) in which is arranged a seal (4) which is interposed between the two parts, the wheel being characterized in that at least one of the parts comprises at least one duct (6) extending beneath the seal so as to establish a leakage path between on one hand a volume of gas delimited by the rim and the tyre, and on the other hand a space between the parts, the path being nominally closed by the seal when the bolts are tightened correctly but allowing gas to leak from said volume when the bolt associated with said opening is not tightened correctly or is absent.
Abstract:
A vent system for an axle of a heavy-duty vehicle includes a check valve and an exhaust tube that is connected to the check valve. The check valve includes a first end that is mounted on the axle, a second end, and a body that is disposed between the first and second ends and is in selective fluid communication with the axle interior. The exhaust tube includes a first end that is mounted on the second end of the check valve, and a second end that is open to atmosphere and is in fluid communication with the check valve body. Using any one of a number of types of configurations for the valve body, the vent system selectively exhausts air from the axle interior to atmosphere to relieve buildups of pressure in the axle, while protecting the integrity of the check valve and preventing contaminants from entering the axle.
Abstract:
A multi-part automotive wheel comprises first and second wheel discs having first and second mating surfaces, respectively, where the first and second discs are to be joined to each other. An annular radial groove is disposed on one of the first and second surfaces for receiving an O-ring for sealing the first surface in respect of the second surface. The groove includes a substantially radial basewall and first and second sidewalls which extend from the basewall toward an intermediate section and from the section toward both edges of the groove, the edges defining a radial groove opening which is smaller than a distance between the sidewalls at the section such that an O-ring having a larger cross-sectional diameter larger than the opening will be retained within the groove prior to the discs being joined together. The basewall merges with the first and second sidewalls with rounded corners to reduce concentration of stress at the corners.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle wheel, particularly a motorcycle wheel, comprising two identical, contiguous, co-axial, complementary light metal pressings or stampings fixed to a hub member, each forming half of a rim bed for a tire. The two mating wheel pressings provide a star-like wheel spider having closed hollow main and auxiliary spokes. The invention also relates to a method for the manufacture of such a vehicle wheel.
Abstract:
A vehicle wheel rim including: a tire bed surface having laterally spaced first and second bead seats that are configured to support respective first and second beads of a mating tire; and a rim well laterally positioned between the first and said second bead seats and including a circumferential first step edge; and a first lateral offset region laterally positioned between the first bead seat and the first step edge, with the first step edge extending radially inwardly from the first lateral offset region and configured to provide for lateral alignment registration and/or visual alignment and placement of a first edge of a mating rim strip. The rim strip is a circumferential element that radially outwardly overlaps the rim well and extends laterally inwardly from the first step edge. The first step edge is radially inboard of the first bead seat.

Abstract:
A recess is formed on the periphery of each of through-holes that go through a rim cavity, and the outer surface of a rim part is cut while a seal member for sealing the through-hole is positioned on the recess. It is thereby possible to stably manufacture a vehicle wheel in which swarf tends not to remain inside the rim cavity. Furthermore, it is not necessary to avoid the seal member for sealing the through-hole when cutting the outer surface of the rim part, and the outer surface of the rim part can be cut without any distinction having to be made between the periphery of the through-hole and the rest of the outer surface. Any increase in manufacturing costs can be minimized.
Abstract:
A take-apart vehicle wheel assembly includes an inner wheel part defining an axis and including a generally radially extending annular flange having an outboard surface; an outer wheel part configured to be secured to the inner wheel part, the outer wheel part including a generally radially extending annular flange having an inboard surface; a gap defined between the outboard surface of the inner wheel part and the inboard surface of the outer wheel part in an area adjacently surrounding each of a plurality of stud receiving holes formed in the inner and outer wheel parts; and a seal disposed in the gap; wherein the gap is formed by providing a recess in at least one of the outboard surface of the inner wheel part and the inboard surface of the outer wheel part in at least a portion of the area adjacently surrounding each of the plurality of stud receiving holes formed therein.
Abstract:
The wheel (1) comprises a rim (2) and a hub (3) between which a plurality of spokes (4) are connected. The rim has a radially recessed, cylindrical outer surface (2a-2d) with a channel-shaped cross-section and is provided with a plurality of drilled seats (6) each intended for the attachment of a respective nipple (5) for the connection of a spoke (4). Annular sealing members (13) are provided between each nipple (5) and the corresponding drilled seat (6) of the rim (2).The wheel (1) further comprises a circumferential, band-like seal (14) which is made of resilient material, is fitted on the rim (2), and extends over the recessed cylindrical surface of the rim (2) in a circumferentially stretched condition so as sealingly to cover all of the drilled seats (6).
