    摘要: This invention is directed to cationic polymerization of olefins using catalysts comprising a Group 6 or 10 neutral transition metal cation composition having a cyclopropenyl ring, a pi-bonded cyclopentadienyl ligand or cyclopentadienyl group-containing ligand and an amido or imido ligand. The precursor of the neutral transition metal composition is activated to a catalytic state by exposure to an activator composition that may be any of the heretofore known activator compositions such as an alumoxane or a compatible non-coordinating anion (NCA).

    摘要: The invention generally relates to a metallocene-based, olefin polymerization catalyst system. The easily processible polymer product has a broad molecular weight distribution, a high molecular weight, and a narrow composition distribution. The catalyst system comprises a first component with a Group-4-6 metal bonded to cyclopentadienyl-containing rings having at least two substituents bonded to the rings in the same position; a second component comprising a Group-4-6 metal bonded to cyclopentadienyl-containing rings having at least two substituents bonded to the rings; and a third component comprising a Group-4-6 metal bonded to cyclopentadienyl-containing rings where one of the rings is substituted identically to the first component and another is substituted identically to the second component. When the substituents of the first and second components are the same, they are bonded to the first component rings at positions different from the bonding positions of the second component rings.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method for varying the melting points and molecular weights of polyolefins by changing the structure of the catalyst used in the polymerization. The catalysts that are useful in the present invention are chiral, stereorigid metallocene catalyst of the formula Rnull(C5Rnullm)2MeQ. The catalysts include a bridge structure between the (C5Rnullm) groups and may contain substituents on the groups. It has been discovered that the melting points and molecular weights of the polymers produced by such catalysts are influenced by the bridge and substituents added to the (C5Rnullm) groups. Thus, the present invention provides a method for varying the melting points of the polymer product and a method of varying the molecular weights of the product by changing the components and structure of the metallocene catalysts. The present invention also provides a process for polymerizing olefins in which the melting points and/or molecular weights of the product may be controlled. Also included in the invention is the discovery that the melting points of the products are controlled by the number of inversions in the xylene insoluble fraction of the polymer.
