    摘要: An electronic device (e.g., a superconducting memory cell) includes a substrate and a layer of superconducting material disposed over the substrate. The layer of superconducting material is patterned to form a plurality of distinct instances of the layer of superconducting material including: a first wire; and a loop that is (i) distinct and separate from the first wire and (ii) capacitively coupled to the first wire while the loop and the first wire are in a superconducting state. The loop is configured to form a persistent current via the capacitive coupling in response to a write current applied to the first wire while the loop and the first wire are in the superconducting state. The persistent current represents a logic state of the electronic device.

    摘要: A multiple arrayed parallel nanowire device includes one or more arrays connected in series, wherein each array includes a plurality of narrow nanowires flanked by one or more wide nanowires, a top electrode, an applied current, a bottom ground electrode, and one or more lateral electrodes where one or more currents or one or more probing voltages can be applied to detect voltage changes in each array. The device detects single and multiple photons without destroying superconductivity in all the nanowires in the array and is thus capable of remaining sensitive to subsequent photon impacts. Moreover, the device can resolve the location of each photon impact.

    摘要: An apparatus (7) for detecting radiation, preferably x-ray radiation, the apparatus comprising at least one detector element (11) which comprises an absorber element (1) for the radiation and a nanowire (2) made of a superconducting material in thermally conducting communication with the absorber element (1), wherein cooling means (34) are provided in order to cool the absorber element (1) and the nanowire (2) to a temperature in the range of the transition temperature of the nanowire (2) in an operating state of the apparatus (7) and wherein an evaluation and control unit (6) is provided to determine whether the nanowire (2) is in a superconducting state or not. According to the invention it is provided that at least one heating means (8) which can be controlled by means of the evaluation and control unit (6) is provided in order to be able to supply a thermal energy pulse to the absorber element (1), wherein the evaluation and control unit (6) is designed to continuously supply energy pulses to the absorber element (1) in the operating state of the apparatus (7) as long as the nanowire (2) is in the superconducting state.

    摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a persistent current switch with high heating efficiency by simplifying the configuration of the persistent current switch and reducing the heat capacity. To achieve the object, a superconducting magnet in accordance with the present invention includes a superconducting coil, a persistent current switch, and one of an alternating-current power supply, a pulsed power supply, or a charge/discharge circuit. The one of the alternating-current power supply, the pulsed power supply, or the charge/discharge circuit is connected to a loop circuit of the superconducting coil and the persistent current switch such that it is in parallel with the persistent current switch.
