Abstract: Sulfur contaminants, such as elemental sulfur (S8), hydrogen sulfide and other sulfur components in natural gas liquids (NGLs), diesel fuel and gasoline are removed using a silicone-based chemical filter. In one embodiment, a silicone-based chemical filter includes a membrane having a cross-linked silicone that is a reaction product of an olefin and a polyhydrosiloxane.

Abstract: An enhanced prepreg for printed circuit board (PCB) laminates includes a substrate and a resin applied to the substrate. The resin includes a curable polymer and a polymerization initiator polymer having a backbone with a free radical initiator forming segment that breaks apart upon being subjected to heat to generate a plurality of non-volatile initiating species. This resin composition eliminates possible volatile loss of the free radical initiator during all processing steps in the preparation of PCB laminates. The resin may additionally include a cross-linking agent, flame retardant and viscosity modifiers. In one embodiment, a sheet of woven glass fibers is impregnated with the resin and subsequently dried or cured. The glass cloth substrate may include a silane coupling agent to couple the resin to the substrate. In another embodiment, resin coated copper (RCC) is prepared by applying the resin to copper and subsequently curing the resin.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for removing bubbles from a molten substrate. The molten substrate from a furnace passes through a downtube to reach additional manufacturing tools, such as an extrusion bushing. One or more ultrasonic sensors are arranged along the downtube. The ultrasonic sensor(s) transmit ultrasonic energy into the molten substrate and measure a characteristic of the ultrasonic energy, such as a propagation time for the ultrasonic energy to be reflected back to the ultrasonic sensor(s). A bubble is detected when a change in the characteristic of the ultrasonic energy is detected. When a bubble is detected, flow through the downtube is diverted to a duct to remove a slug of molten substrate that includes the bubble.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided with a component configured with an interface comprising a resilient material. In a first state, the component is mechanically and/or electrically attached to a substrate. Exposure of the interface to the temperature that meets or exceeds the transition temperature of interface causes the resilient material to undergo a state change. The state change of the interface alters the position of the component, including separation of the component from the substrate. The separation disrupts the attachment thereby mitigating damage to the substrate and/or component.

Abstract: Phosphate-based polyallyl isocyanurate cross-linker compounds, polyalkenyl isocyanurate cross-linker compounds, and a flame-retardant resin are disclosed. The phosphate-based polyallyl isocyanurate compound can have allyl phosphate substituents with variable functional groups. The phosphate-based polyallyl isocyanurate compound can have three or six allyl phosphate substituents. The brominated polyalkenyl isocyanurate compound can have brominated alkene-terminated substituents. The brominated alkene-terminated substituents can have variable functional groups and variable chain lengths. Both the phosphate-based polyallyl isocyanurate compounds and the brominated polyalkenyl isocyanurate compounds can be cross-linkers for epoxide polymers, acrylate polymers, vinylbenzene-terminated poly(phenyleneoxide) polymers, etc. The phosphate-based polyallyl isocyanurate compounds and the brominated polyalkenyl isocyanurate compounds can also be flame-retardant. The flame-retardant resin can contain the phosphate-based polyallyl isocyanurate compounds or the brominated polyalkenyl isocyanurate compounds, and it can be incorporated into a printed circuit board laminate.
