Abstract:
An inlet particle separator system for an engine includes an inner flowpath section, an outer flowpath section, a splitter, a first electrostatic discharge device, and a second electrostatic discharge device. The outer flowpath section surrounds at least a portion of the inner flowpath section and is spaced apart therefrom to define a passageway having an air inlet. The splitter is disposed downstream of the air inlet and extends into the passageway to divide the passageway into a scavenge flow path and an engine flow path. The first electrostatic charge device is disposed between the air inlet and the splitter and is electrostatically charged to a first polarity. The second electrostatic charge device is disposed downstream of the first electrostatic charge device and is electrostatically charged to a second polarity that is opposite to the first polarity.

The first and second strips are nested with one another. The edge of the first strip is opposed to the edge of the second strip. An electrostatic precipitator for an air purifier includes a first spiral strip having a continuous conductive electrode, a second spiral strip having a continuous conductive electrode and nested with the first strip, a plurality of combs. Each comb extends from an outer periphery of the precipitator to an intermediate region between the outer periphery and a center of the precipitator.

Abstract:
A vane electrostatic precipitator (VEP) controls the air flow so that the entrained air particles are continuously subjected to a stress in the form of drag as they flow in front and behind vanes electrodes in the precipitator. It is not based on achieving laminar air flow over the collecting plates. Instead, efficient collection is achieved by operating with a narrow air stream and using vane electrodes in various configurations with porous back plates that gradually reduce the flow rate of the entrained air thereby allowing the particles to precipitate and collect on the vanes.
Abstract:
An improved HVAC system is provided for the delivery of a temperature controlled air supply via one or more air curtains provided at windows, doors and walls. The air curtains create a double layer of insulation over the surface of a window, door or wall. The invention provides for the use of the temperature controlled air flow from the air curtain to directly affect the interior room temperature. The invention provides an improved system for continuous cleaning the recycled air through the use of a wet electrostatic precipitator in the HVAC air flow, as well as providing a higher speed mode for the air curtain to prevent the inflow of particles and contaminants from outside of the building, when windows or doors are open. The invention may be installed on existing construction, or incorporated as part of new construction.
Abstract:
An emissions reduction slack includes a conditioning section, collector section utilizing a Wet Electrostatic Precipitator (WESP), and output section. A chemically active aqueous stream is introduced into an incoming process stream in order to saturate the stream and produce a fog stream wherein water is condensed on the surface of particulates. The process of condensation increases the efficiency of the particulate filtration process conducted by the WESP.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a system for filtering airborne particles from an occupied space. The system permits the removal of airborne particles by manipulating both the charge and the size of the particles, thus enabling the capture of particles that most other typical filtration systems leave behind. More specifically, the system captures small airborne particles through the use of a series of electric fields, forcing them to be trapped in a series of filters or collide to form larger particles, whereby their movement and capture are subsequently governed primarily by airflow. The system controls particle behavior by utilizing specific electromagnetic fields to collide particles, capture particles, and deactivate live pathogens that get captured.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a dust collector (30) that is disposed in an air passageway (15) to which water droplets (21a) are supplied, and that includes a dust collecting electrode portion (31b) which electrically attracts dust charged in the air. The dust collecting electrode portion (31b) is made of a plate-like member having a mesh-like structure with a plurality of pores, thereby reducing an interfacial tension between the water droplets (21a) adhering on the surface of the dust collecting electrode portion (31b) and the dust collecting electrode portion (31b). Thus, water droplets are prevented from increasing in size on the surface of a dust collecting electrode, and a decrease in the dust collection capability due to adhesion of dust or the like is reduced.
Abstract:
An air processing device is provided by which a current-carrying section is attached to a casing by an insulating member having a covering section covering an outer periphery face of a current-carrying section and a tube-like section in which a power source-side end of the covering section is supported by a tube bottom section. This consequently secures a long insulating distance from an electric discharge spray section and a charged dust collecting section via the current-carrying section to the casing. As a result, the respective electrodes and the casing can have an improved insulating performance therebetween even under an environment where water droplets are supplied.
