Abstract:
In a method for carrying out an emergency braking procedure in a vehicle, at least one electric actuator in the braking system is automatically actuated to generate an increased brake force in the case of an emergency situation. A maximum voltage, which exceeds the rated voltage of the actuator, is applied to the electric actuator.
Abstract:
A method for automatically decelerating a vehicle having a first side with a first front wheel brake and a first rear wheel brake and second side with a second front wheel brake and a second rear wheel brake, and in which the vehicle further has a braking system with a pump operable to deliver a flow of pressurized hydraulic fluid to the first and second front wheel brakes and to the first and second rear wheel brakes, includes receiving a signal associated with an emergency braking event. The method further includes increasing the hydraulic pressure at the first and second front wheel brakes at a greater rate than at the first and second rear wheel brakes. The method also includes directing hydraulic fluid from the first front wheel brake to the second rear wheel brake upon achieving a targeted level of deceleration or wheel slip.
Abstract:
A brake ECU acquires the vehicle load (WW) (step S142), and sets a higher start-time criterion value (KT2) when the load (WW) is heavy than when the load (WW) is light (step S144). The brake ECU initiates auxiliary control when the period since the deceleration of the vehicle exceeded a first deceleration determination value is less than or equal to the start-time criterion value (KT2) and the G sensor value exceeds a second deceleration determination value.
Abstract:
A vehicle braking control device includes first and second deceleration calculation units, an assist control unit, and a termination determination unit. The first deceleration calculation unit calculates a first estimated vehicle body deceleration using a wheel speed sensor detection signal. The second deceleration calculation unit calculates a second estimated vehicle body deceleration using a vehicle body acceleration sensor detection signal. The assist control unit initiates assist control, which assists increasing a braking force when the first estimated vehicle body deceleration exceeds a first deceleration determination value and the second estimated vehicle body deceleration exceeds a second deceleration determination value. The termination determination unit determines whether or not a termination condition of the assist control is satisfied based on at least one of the first and the second estimated vehicle body decelerations. The assist control unit terminates the assist control when it is determined that the termination condition is satisfied.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle includes a driver assistance system which is rendered operative when the motor vehicle travels below a limit speed to automatically brake the motor vehicle to a halt while moving forward or backing up. The deceleration characteristic can be predefined or can be selected from an array of deceleration characteristics in dependency on an operating behavior of an accelerator pedal.
Abstract:
A brake system includes a main brake cylinder and a pedal decoupling unit provided with a holding piston, the first ring surface thereof together with a first primary brake cylinder piston defining a first hydraulic chamber that is hydraulically pressurized with an electrically controllable pressure supply device. In order to improve the pedal characteristics of the brake system, in particular in a brake-by-wire brake system, the holding piston is embodied as a differential piston, the second ring surface thereof defining a second, blockable hydraulic chamber, and a piston effect in the second chamber corresponds to a force that acts counter to the direction of actuation on the holding piston.
Abstract:
A method for providing a smooth exit from a panic braking assist algorithm, in a vehicle having a braking system with a brake pedal, comprises the steps of measuring a force applied to the brake pedal, measuring a movement of the brake pedal, applying a first level of braking when the force applied to the brake pedal is equal to a predetermined force calibration value, applying a second level of braking when the movement of the brake pedal is equal to a predetermined travel calibration value, and applying a variable level of braking when the force applied to the brake pedal is less than the predetermined force calibration value and the movement of the brake pedal is greater than the predetermined travel calibration value. The variable level of braking is a function of the movement of the brake pedal.
Abstract:
A device and a method for transmitting an activation decision for an actuator system from a first to at least one second control unit is provided, the second control unit activating the actuator system as a function of at least two messages from the first control unit.
Abstract:
A method and system for providing braking assistance in a motor vehicle after an initial collision involves detecting an initial collision, pre-charging a brake system, detecting an intent to brake on the part of a driver, and providing assistance to a braking process by means of a braking assistance system on the basis of the detection of the initial collision and the detection of intent to brake on the part of the driver.
Abstract:
A brake control apparatus includes a fluid pressure sensor to sense an actual master cylinder pressure, a pump to suck a brake fluid from the master cylinder through a hydraulic circuit connecting the master cylinder to a wheel cylinder and a controller to perform a brake assist control to supply a discharge pressure of the pump to the wheel cylinder in accordance with the sensed actual master cylinder pressure signal. The controller calculates a modified master cylinder pressure by modifying the actual master cylinder pressure in accordance with an operating condition of the pump, calculates a base pressure in accordance with a variation of the modified master cylinder pressure, and calculates a target wheel cylinder pressure in accordance with the base pressure, to control a braking force by controlling an actual wheel cylinder pressure of the wheel cylinder in accordance with the target wheel cylinder pressure.
