摘要: A compact, low-cost combined transmitting/receiving optical communications module, which is suitable for use in a TCM system and which is capable of normal operation over a particularly wide temperature range in optical communications equipment, is provided. The optical transmitting/receiving section for this purpose has a laser diode which outputs a transmitted optical signal, a combined monitor/receiving photodiode which not only monitors the optical output signal from the laser diode during a transmitting period, but also receives the input optical signal from the transmission path during the receiving period, and an optical mixer/divider which performs transmitting/receiving mixing and dividing between the transmission path, the laser diode, and the photodiode. A drive section has a transmitting/receiving switching circuit which performs time-division transmitting/receiving switching and a threshold control circuit which performs successive control of the bias current of the laser diode so that the optical noise output monitored by the photodiode is maximized.

摘要: A variable inductance element comprising an inductor conductor 10 having a predetermined shape formed on an insulation layer 40 on the surface of a semiconductor substrate 42, switches 16 and 24 for shorting portions of the inductor conductor 10, and input/output terminals 12 and 14 provided at the respective ends of the inductor conductor 10. When switches 16 and/or 24 is in the on state, the function as an inductor having a smaller inductance than the overall inductor conductor 10 is obtained. The inductance of this variable inductance element can be changed by external control, while manufacturing is easy and formation in a unitized manner with an integrated circuit or other semiconductor device is enabled.

摘要: An LC element, semiconductor device and a manufacturing method thereof whereby a channel 22 is formed by applying a voltage to a gate electrode 10 having a predetermined shape formed on a p-Si substrate 30 via an insulation layer 26, whereby a connection is formed between a first diffusion region 12 and a second diffusion region 14 formed at separated positions near the surface of the p-Si substrate 30; both the channel 22 and gate electrode 10 function as inductors, and between these a distributed constant type capacitor is formed, and possessing excellent attenuation characteristics over a wide band. This LC element and semiconductor device can be easily manufactured by using MOS manufacturing technology; in the case of manufacturing as a portion of a semiconductor substrate, component assembly work in subsequent processing can be omitted. Also these can be formed as a portion of an IC or LSI device.

摘要: An apparatus for detecting a position of an underground excavator in tunneling the earth measures automatically: a three-dimensional position of the excavator relative to a predetermined reference position, or three-dimensional positions of a pair of underground excavators relative to each other. The excavators are disposed in opposite ends of a tunnel to be dug, and dig the tunnel toward each other. The apparatus comprises: a plurality of magnetic-field generating means (4a, 4b, 4c) mounted in a second underground excavator (2); a plurality of small-diameter boring means (3a, 3b, 3c) mounted on a first underground excavator (1) oppositely disposed from the second excavator (2); a plurality of magnetic-field detecting means (6a, 6b, 6c) mounted in front-end portions of the small-diameter boring means (3a, 3b, 3c); and an arithmetic means (14) for calculating a relative position of the first excavator (1) relative to the reference position or the second excavator (2) based on lengths of holes bored by the boring means (3a, 3b, 3c) and detection signals issued from the detecting means (6a, 6b, 6c).

摘要: A load storage system is provided for holding standardized containers including a first stocker for being positioned on a first story and a second stocker for being positioned on a second story. The first and second stockers each include at least one load support for supporting the standardized containers. A floor is positioned between the first and second stockers. The floor defines a portal between and directly connecting the first and second stockers. The portal is positioned in alignment with the load supports in the first and second stockers. A vertical transfer device is positioned in alignment with the load supports in the first and second stockers and is configured to move the standardized containers through the portal between the first and second stockers. A method of operating the load storage system is also provided.
