Abstract:
The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a mixture of a water-miscible silicone material and a water-miscible lubricant. The mixture can be applied in relatively low amounts, to provide thin, substantially non-dripping lubricating films. In contrast to dilute aqueous lubricants, the lubricants of the invention provide drier lubrication of the conveyors and containers, a cleaner conveyor line and reduced lubricant usage, thereby reducing waste, cleanup and disposal problems.
Abstract:
The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a lubricant composition comprising a water-miscible silicone material having a silicone emulsion wherein the silicone emulsion contains less than 500 ppm of a triethanolamine salts of alkyl benzene sulfonic acid compounds.
Abstract:
The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a composition comprising a water-miscible silicone material wherein the composition has good wetting to polyethylene terephthalate surfaces. The compatibility of the lubricating composition with polyethylene terephthalate is increased because the wetting of the composition to polyethylene terephthalate is improved.

Abstract:
The passage of a container along a conveyor is facilitated by applying to the container or conveyor aqueous compositions containing hardness ions. The compatibility of the aqueous compositions with PET bottles is improved when the ratio of hardness as CaCO3 to alkalinity as CaCO3 is greater than about 1 to 1.
Abstract:
A liquid ink for developing electrophotography images comprises: a) a carrier liquid having a Kauri-Butanol number less than 30; b) a grafted co-polymer comprising a (co)polymeric steric stabilizer covalently bonded to a thermoplastic (co)polymeric core that is insoluble in the carrier liquid, wherein the grafted co-polymer is derived from at least a polymerizable organic compound having at least one acid group or at least one acid group; c) a dispersant having, respectively, at least an amine group or at least one acid group to form an acid-base copolymer-dispersant system or a base-acid copolymer-dispersant system, wherein the mole ratio of the amine group to the acid group is between 0.3 and 1.5 in the base-acid copolymer-dispersant system and the mole ratio of the acid group to the base group in the acid-base copolymer dispersant system is between 0.3 and 1.5; and d) a positive charge director with the acid-base copolymer charge dispersant system and a negative charge director with the base-acid copolymer charge-dispersant system.
Abstract:
A vanadium oxide coating useful as an antistatic protection layer on a donor sheet or a receptor sheet of a thermal transfer system is provided. The preferred antistatic coating is formed from a composition of a vanadium oxide colloidal dispersion.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of a vanadium oxide colloidal dispersion is provided. The process includes a step of hydrolyzing vanadium oxoalkoxide with an excess of water to form a vanadium oxide colloidal dispersion containing at least a minimum effective amount of vanadium and no greater than about 3.5 wt-% vanadium, preferably containing about 0.3 wt-% to about 2 wt-% vanadium. The process can be carried out in the presence of an organic polymer or prepolymer to form a polymeric vanadium oxide colloidal dispersion.
Abstract:
A delaminating coating for use in a thermal transfer system is provided that possesses both delaminating properties and antistatic properties. This delaminating coating can be used on a donor sheet or an intermediate carrying sheet of a thermal retransfer system. The preferred delaminating/antistatic coating is formed from a composition of a vanadium oxide colloidal dispersion.
