The compatibility of the lubricating composition with polyethylene terephthalate is increased because the wetting of the composition to polyethylene terephthalate is improved.

The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a mixture of a water-miscible silicone material and a water-miscible lubricant. The mixture can be applied in relatively low amounts, to provide thin, substantially non-dripping lubricating films. In contrast to dilute aqueous lubricants, the lubricants of the invention provide drier lubrication of the conveyors and containers, a cleaner conveyor line and reduced lubricant usage, thereby reducing waste, cleanup and disposal problems.

The present invention also relates to methods employing such lubricant compositions. A process of making a liquid ink comprising the steps of: (a) dissolving a polymer comprising units derived from at least a nitrogen-containing polymerizable monomer in a solvent with a Kauri-Butanol number greater than 30 to form a polymer solution; (b) dispersing colorant pigment particles in said polymer solution to form a colorant pigment dispersion; (c) removing at least some of said solvent from said colorant pigment dispersion to form treated colorant pigment particles; and (d) dispersing said treated colorant pigment particles in an organosol containing a carrier liquid having a Kauri-Butanol number less than 30.

A base film including a substrate, an adhesion layer, a conductive layer, and a magnetic layer is provided. The adhesion layer preferably includes a sulfonated polyester/vinyl addition polymer, wherein the adhesion layer is disposed between the substrate and the conductive layer and improves adhesion between these layers, even under wet conditions. An adhesion layer is particularly useful in photographic elements and is at least located on a surface of the substrate that is opposite a silver halide emulsion layer, although emulsion receptivity can be enhanced by including an adhesion layer on the emulsion-side of the substrate.

A photographic element comprising a polymeric film base, a silver halide emulsion layer, and an antistatic layer comprising a colloidal vanadium oxide and a vinyl addition polymer dispersion in a dry weight ratio of from 1:30 to 1:500. The antistatic layer may be present as a backing layer on the side of the base opposite the silver halide emulsion layer, as a subbing layer between the base and the emulsion layer in a single or double side coated photographic element, and/or as a subbing layer between the base and a different backing layer. No barrier layer is used over the antistatic layer.

A vanadium oxide coating useful as an antistatic protection layer on a donor sheet or a receptor sheet of a thermal transfer system is provided. The preferred antistatic coating is formed from a composition of a vanadium oxide colloidal dispersion.
