摘要： A method and a device for determining the amount of ink or similar liquid existing in a container are disclosed. A resonance circuit is arranged on the container storing the liquid. A voltage having a preselected frequency is applied to a drive coil located outside of the container to thereby induce a voltage having a preselected frequency in the resonance circuit. The voltage induced in the resonance circuit, in turn, induces a voltage having a preselected frequency in a sense coil also located outside of the container. The amount of liquid in the container is determined in terms of the voltage induced in the sense coil.

摘要： In a cutting device having a moving (disc) cutter and a fixed cutter which extends in a cutting direction, wherein the moving cutter moves along the fixed cutter, thereby cutting a medium which is interposed therebetween, a presser member which is movable together with a medium pressing interlocking plate is lowered to press on the medium to fix the same at a portion close to a cutting position since a bearing attached to the moving cutter engages with the medium pressing interlocking plate to press down the same as the moving cutter moves. Since the moving cutter cuts the medium at this state, the cut edge of the medium can be excellent in linearity even if it has low rigidity in the outward-surface direction at right angles to the surface thereof. While the moving cutter does not cut the medium, the presser member is retracted to a standby position.

摘要： A rewriteable card of the invention is composed of a thermally reversible thermosensitive recording material which changes reversibly between a slightly opaque state and a transparent state depending on a given heating condition wherein the rewriteable card includes a reference slightly opaque portion at the part thereof having the reflectance equivalent to a slight opacity state of the thermally reversible thermosensitive recording material in an early stage or a last stage of use of the rewriteable card. A method of judging the life of the rewriteable card is based on the result of detection of the reflectance on a printing slightly opaque portion and that on the reference slightly opaque portion, and a printing apparatus is provided with a card life judging device employing the judging method.

摘要： The invention relates to a thermal printer and a printing method thereby, using a step motor for feeding a sheet of paper, a scanning type thermal head and a control unit by which the paper feeding operation is temporarily stopped and the printing operation is restarted after the stopped period. This thermal printer further comprises a delay drive unit which drives the thermal head with delay of one or two clock periods, predetermined as a control parameter for this printing operation, by a phase switch timing point for the step motor, in response to the time-lag defined by the phase switch timing point to an actual paper feeding motion; and a pre-print unit which outputs a command signal to begin the printing operation of the thermal head for printing one or more times the print data which follows the final print data of when the paper feeding operation was stopped, prior to the above described regular drive operation of the thermal head at the restart of the printing operation. Whereby this thermal printer can provide a high quality print without any print gaps and unclear prints due to the interruption of the printing operation.
