A driving circuit for driving an LCD, using frame modulation, includes: a data converting circuit for frame modulation having at least two averaged patterns for use in averaging brightness during frame modulation and converting display data using the averaged patterns and a display data detecting circuit for detecting the logical states of at least two leading dots specified in said display data. The data converting circuit for frame modulation controls switching of the at least two averaged patterns according to the result of detection. This configuration makes it possible to substantially prevent the occurrence of flickers irrespective of the display pattern. This contributes to realization of an excellent display.

This invention provides a composition comprising a mixture or a fired product of a material of the general formula Sr.sub.(1+x)/2 La.sub.(1-x)/2 Co.sub.1-x Me.sub.x O.sub.3-.delta. (wherein Me: at least one of Fe, Mn, Cr and V; O.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.1; .delta.: loss of oxygen) and SrMeO.sub.3 (wherein Me: at least one of Ti, Zr and and Hf), and a catalyst and a multi-functional sensor using such composition. With this composition it is possible to improve the catalytic performance for cleaning exhaust gas grom combusters or internal combustion engines and to improve sensitivity or response characteristics of the sensors for detecting stoichiometric composition.

A liquid crystal display device converts input signals into liquid crystal drive signals so as to display an image on a liquid crystal panel. A plurality of flexible boards are connected to the liquid crystal panel, each of the flexible boards having a drive IC which converts the input signals into the liquid crystal drive signals. A connection board is connected to the liquid crystal panel so as to supply the input signals to first input lines formed on the liquid crystal panel. Each of the flexible boards has second input signal lines for supplying the input signals to the drive IC; a first end of each of the second input signal lines is connected to a respective one of a first group of the first input signal lines. A second end of each of the second input signal lines is connected to a respective one of a second group of the first input signal lines which are formed in positions different from positions where the first ends of the second input lines are connected to the first group of the first input lines.

The catalyst essentially consists of a perovskite oxide represented by the general formulaLa.sub.(1-x)/2 Sr.sub.(1+x)/2 Co.sub.1-x Me.sub.x O.sub.3in which Me is an element such as Fe, Mn, Cr, V or Ti and x is a number of from 0.15 to 0.90. In order to fabricate durable catalysts, the catalytic component is supported on heat-resistant expanded metal or inorganic fiber meshworks or hollows cylinders of heat-resistant anti-corrosion metals or refractory materials with or without catalyst-bearing pellets.
