摘要: An absorbing layer of a low-E coating is designed to cause the coating to have a more neutral and/or green color at normal and/or certain off-axis viewing angles. In certain example embodiments, the metallic or substantially metallic absorbing layer (e.g., NiCr) is from about 20-30 angstroms (Å) thick; this thickness has been found to unexpectedly provide less red and more neutral coloration for the coated article at certain off-axis viewing angles (e.g., at a 45 degree off-axis viewing angle). In certain example embodiments, the absorbing layer is provided between first and second nitride layers in order to reduce or prevent oxidation thereof during heat treatment thereby permitting predictable coloration to be achieved following the heat treatment. Coated articles according to certain example embodiments of this invention may be used in the context of insulating glass (IG) window units, vehicle windows, other types of windows, or in any other suitable application.

摘要: This invention relates to a method of making a coated article for use in insulating glass (IG) window units, vehicle windows, or the like. The coated article typically includes a low-E coated article, including a low-E (low emissivity) coating supported by a glass substrate. In certain example embodiments, rapid heating (not sufficient for tempering or heat bending) of the coated article is utilized in order to reduce the emissivity and/or sheet resistance of the coated article without significantly damaging the infrared (IR) reflecting layer(s) of the coating, thereby activating the coated article. The glass of the coated article does not become too hot during such rapid heating.

摘要: An electroluminescent device (10) comprises a porous silicon region (22) adjacent a bulk silicon region (20), together with a top electrical contact (24) of transparent indium tin oxide and a bottom electrical contact (26) of aluminium. The device includes a heavily doped region (28) to provide an ohmic contact. The porous silicon region (22) is fabricated by anodizing through an ion-implanted surface layer of the bulk silicon. The silicon remains unannealed between the ion-implantation and anodization stages. The device (10) has a rectifying p-n junction within the porous silicon region (22).

摘要: A transparent dielectric composition comprising tin, oxygen and one of aluminum or magnesium with preferably higher than 15% by weight of aluminum or magnesium offers improved thermal stability over tin oxide with respect to appearance and optical properties under high temperature processes. For example, upon a heat treatment at temperatures higher than 500 C, changes in color and index of refraction of the present transparent dielectric composition are noticeably less than those of tin oxide films of comparable thickness. The transparent dielectric composition can be used in high transmittance, low emissivity coated panels, providing thermal stability so that there are no significant changes in the coating optical and structural properties, such as visible transmission, IR reflectance, microscopic morphological properties, color appearance, and haze characteristics, of the as-coated and heated treated products.
