Abstract: A prosthetic valve configured for implantation within a native valve may be provided. The prosthetic valve may include an expandable valve body having an inner lumen extending along a longitudinal axis of the valve body. The prosthetic valve may additionally include a plurality of ventricular tissue anchors configured to extend from the valve body to ventricular anchor distal ends, as well as a plurality of atrial tissue anchors configured to extend from the valve body to atrial anchor distal ends. Each atrial tissue anchor may include a rigid portion, and a flexible portion situated between a distal end of the rigid portion and the atrial anchor distal end. The ventricular anchor distal end of a ventricular tissue anchor and the distal end of the rigid portion of an atrial tissue anchor may be configured to be equidistant from the longitudinal axis of the valve body.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide an apparatus for testing a plurality of prosthetic heart valve leaflets. The apparatus includes a vertical mount, and a plurality of horizontal bars are movably coupled to the mount. Each bar extends away from the mount along a respective bar-axis that lies on a respective vertical bar-plane. Each bar is configured to support a respective leaflet along the respective bar-axis such that the respective leaflet drapes over the respective bar. The apparatus further includes an image sensor, positioned opposite the mount, facing the plurality of bars and the mount so as to be oriented to acquire an image that includes the plurality of leaflets draped over the plurality of bars. Other embodiments are also described.

Abstract: A frame assembly includes a valve body, a plurality of arms that each extend radially outward from the valve body to a respective arm-tip, and a plurality of ventricular legs that are coupled to the valve body and that extend radially outward from the valve body and toward the plurality of arms. A liner lines the lumen. Prosthetic leaflets are attached to the liner within the lumen. A first sheet of flexible material is attached to the plurality of arms. A second sheet of flexible material is attached to the first sheet and extends radially inwards and downstream, and is attached to the valve body. The first sheet, the second sheet, and the liner define an inflatable pouch therebetween. The apparatus defines a plurality of windows from the lumen into the pouch.

Abstract: A method includes delivering an implant to a heart of a patient using a delivery tool that includes a nosepiece that is fixed to a shaft and distal to an implant, and an expandable element proximal to the nosepiece. Maximally-expanded, the expandable element (i) has an expanded external diameter at its widest part that is smaller than the expanded internal diameter of a lumen of the frame of the implant and (ii) tapers proximally away from the widest part and from the nosepiece. In a compressed state of the implant a portion of the expandable element is disposed within the lumen of the frame. The method includes, following implantation of the implant, withdrawing the expandable element proximally through the lumen of the implant, between leaflets of the implant, and out of the lumen. Other applications are also described.

Abstract: Apparatus includes a delivery tool and a prosthetic valve, the prosthetic valve includes a first frame, and a second frame coupled to the first frame. The delivery tool includes a first catheter, a second catheter, and a rod. A steerable portion of the second catheter extends out of the first catheter, and a steerable distal portion of the rod extends out of the second catheter. An extracorporeal rod-controller is operably coupled to the rod such that operating the extracorporeal rod-controller steers the steerable distal portion of the rod. In a delivery state of the apparatus, the prosthetic valve is compressed onto the rod, distal to the distal end of the second catheter, and the apparatus is transfemorally and transseptally advanceable into a left atrium of a heart of a subject. Other embodiments are also described.

The atrial anchoring arms and the ventricular anchoring legs may be positioned relative to each other such that when the atrial anchoring arms and ventricular anchoring legs engage the native mitral valve, a volume between the atrial anchoring arms and ventricular anchoring legs is configured to be substantially filled with tissue.
