摘要: An improved apparatus is disclosed for cooling the power dissipating components of a computer subsystem, including microprocessors and hard disk drive assemblies. The apparatus utilizes the computer subsystem's chassis or enclosure, by configuring it as a roll bond panel formed from two sheets bonded together to define a fluid channel therebetween. Various concentrated sources of power dissipation are mounted within the enclosure on special component panels that themselves define a fluid channel. A working fluid is disposed within the channels of the component panels and the enclosure panel. During operation, heat generated by the sources of power dissipation is transferred to the working liquid within the fluid channels of the component panels and, in turn, to the working fluid disposed within the fluid channel of the enclosure panel, for dissipation by convection. In one disclosed embodiment, the working fluid undergoes a reversible phase change, to facilitate an efficient transfer of heat throughout the enclosure panel and thereby to heat the panel to a substantially uniform temperature.

摘要: Systems and methods of analyzing energy consumption using node similarity are disclosed. An example of a method may be carried out by program code stored on non-transient computer-readable medium and executed by a processor. The method includes assigning a similarity score to a plurality of nodes using at least one of: domain based rules, attribute based similarity metrics, and machine learning. The method also includes identifying a similar node from the plurality of nodes, for a node under consideration, based on the similarity score. The method also includes determining energy consumption of the node under consideration based on energy consumption of the similar node.

摘要: In a method of generating governing metrics, a high-level goal to be met in a provisioned system is identified. In addition, a low-level governing policy designed to facilitate achievement of the high-level goal is selected and properties relating to the selected low-level governing policy are identified. The identified properties are formulated to define governing metrics relevant to the selected low-level governing policy and the formulated governing metrics are outputted. The formulated governing metrics are configured to be used in at least one of evaluating and controlling resource provisioning in the provisioned system.

摘要: A method for controlling cooling provisioning for heat generating devices includes correlating the heat generating devices with primary actuators, such that the heat generating devices are associated with primary actuators having at least a predefined level of influence over the respective heat generating devices. The flow rates of air supplied by the primary actuators are set based upon volume flow rate requirements of the heat generating devices, such that the volume flow rate setting for a primary actuator is based upon the volume flow rate requirement for the heat generating devices associated with the primary actuator. In addition, the temperatures of the airflow supplied by the primary actuators are varied to substantially maintain associated heat generating devices within predetermined temperature ranges.

摘要: In a method of controlling vent tiles, the vent tiles are initially correlated with at least one rack. A vent tile family (VTF) of the at least one rack is determined, where the VTF includes vent tiles that have at least a predefined level of influence over the at least one rack as determined by the correlation between the vent tiles and the at least one rack. In addition, a vent control family (VCF) from the vent tiles in the VTF is identified, where the VCF includes vent tiles having an associated at least one rack whose inlet condition is outside of a predefined threshold. Moreover, the vent tiles in the VCF are controlled on a weighted basis determined by the correlation between the vent tiles and the at least one rack.
