Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel bioabsorbable polymeric compositions based upon AB polyester polyether or related diblocks and triblocks. Compositions according to the present invention may be used in medical applications, for example, for reducing or preventing adhesion formation subsequent to medical procedures such as surgery, for producing surgical articles including stents and grafts, as coatings, sealants, lubricants, as transient barriers in the body, for materials which control the release of bioactive agents in the body, for wound and bum dressings and producing biodegradable articles, among numerous others.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to label based isochronous connection update. A central Bluetooth low energy (BLE) device may send a plurality of labels to a peripheral BLE device during a setup of a BLE communication to notify the peripheral BLE device of one or more labels to be used during the BLE communication. The central BLE device may determine a channel variation between the central BLE device and the peripheral BLE device. The central BLE device may send a first label to the peripheral BLE device to indicate an isochronous (ISO) parameter update that will occur at a first time offset based on the channel variation. The central BLE device may implement the isochronous parameter update at the first time offset based on the channel variation.
Abstract:
Novel medical devices and uses thereof for lining a blood vessel and/or treating an aneurysm are disclosed herein. The device comprises a non-metallic expandable tubular structure, implantable in a body vessel and being made, at least in part, from a polymeric system characterized by a stiffness which changes upon stimulation under physiological conditions. Novel polymeric systems are further disclosed herein, which are configured to produce a polymeric material upon stimulation under physiological conditions, such that a stiffness of said polymeric material is higher than a stiffness of said system. Uses of polymer systems in the manufacture of a device are further disclosed.
Abstract:
A method and system are provided for enabling an MS operative in a multi-layer wireless network, to be handed over to a target BS associated with another one of the multi-layers. By the method provided, if it is required that the MS which has not yet been provided with information that relates to a potential target BS associated with a layer different from the one with which its currently serving BS, be handed over to such a target BS, then upon receiving an acknowledgement from the target BS indicating its capability to provide service to the MS, a message is transmitted to the MS that comprises information to enable the MS to perform a fast network re-entry in order to communicate with the target BS. Next, a handover procedure between the MS and the target BS is initiated, during which the MS performs a fast network re-entry.
Abstract:
A system and method for selecting MPLS network transport entities between a first endpoint and a second endpoint are presented. Working and protection entities are selected from a set of available entities based upon minimizing the probability of simultaneous failure and/or minimizing a cost function base upon one or more metrics.
Abstract:
A fuel tank system for gasoline or flexible gasoline/ethanol powered vehicles that use independently controlled direct ethanol injection to provide a large on-demand octane boost is disclosed. The on-demand octane boost is used when needed to prevent knock. The ethanol can be in the form of 100% ethanol or E85 (a 85% ethanol, 15% gasoline mixture) and is stored in a second tank that is separate from the tank that which contains the primary fuel. The primary fuel can be gasoline, E85, ethanol or a mix of these fuels. The fuel tank system enables convenient, quick, flexible and minimal cost refueling of the separate fuel tank. A range of fueling options is available to provide the driver with the maximum freedom to choose fuels depending upon price and availability. Valves may be utilized to direct the flow in fuel to the various tanks.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel polymeric compositions based upon An(BCB)An polyester/polyether multi-blocks. Compositions according to the present invention exhibit unexpectedly exceptional reverse thermal gellation properties and in certain cases, relatively low viscosities at approximately room temperature and extremely high viscosities at temperatures above room temperature (preferably at approximately physiological or body temperature, i.e., within a temperature range of about 32-40° C.). Compositions according to the present invention may be used advantageously in applications which make use of their reverse thermal gellation properties. Preferred applications for use of the present compositions include, for example, medical applications which make advantageous use of the inherent composition characteristic of being of relatively low viscosity at room temperature and much higher viscosity at elevated temperatures, especially body temperature.
Abstract:
Fuel management system for enhanced operation of a spark ignition gasoline engine. Injectors inject an anti-knock agent such as ethanol directly into a cylinder. It is preferred that the direct injection occur after the inlet valve is closed. It is also preferred that stoichiometric operation with a three way catalyst be used to minimize emissions. In addition, it is also preferred that the anti-knock agents have a heat of vaporization per unit of combustion energy that is at least three times that of gasoline.
