Abstract:
Embodiments of a mobile device and method of communication are generally described herein. The mobile device may be configured to operate as a slave device for a Bluetooth link with a master device. The mobile device may transmit a packet in an ESCO interval. The mobile device may, in an ESCO retransmission slot of the ESCO interval: attempt to decode, from the slave device, a request for retransmission of the packet. If the request for retransmission is not successfully decoded, the mobile device may determine whether the request for retransmission was sent during the ESCO retransmission slot based at least partly on a channel energy level detected during the ESCO retransmission slot. If it is determined that the request for retransmission was not sent during the ESCO retransmission slot, the mobile device may refrain from monitoring subsequent ESCO retransmission slots of the ESCO interval. If it is determined that the request for retransmission was sent during the ESCO retransmission slot, the mobile device may monitor one or more of the subsequent ESCO retransmission slots of the ESCO interval.
Abstract:
An apparatus comprises a memory and processing circuitry that are configured to implement a first network control protocol (NCP) MAC layer configured to handle MAC layer communications of the first NCP, and sniffer edge circuitry. The sniffer edge circuitry is configured to communicate with the first NCP MAC layer and a second NCP MAC layer and to capture events related to second NCP (WiGig) communications. These captured events are communicated over a dedicated sniffer network, and packet contents communicated between the second NCP MAC layer and the second NCP stack are secure from the sniffer edge circuitry. The apparatus receives a distributed common time reference and uses this to timestamp the captured events.
Abstract:
Wireless access management techniques for wirelessly-accessible devices are described. In one embodiment, for example, at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium may comprise a set of instructions that, in response to being executed on a computing device, cause the computing device to identify a connection request of a mobile client based on a received connection establishment message, determine whether the connection request comprises an automatic connection request based on request attribute information contained in the connection establishment message, and in response to a determination that the connection request comprises an automatic connection request, generate a prompt for a confirmation that the connection request is to be granted. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides systems and methods for dynamically signaling encoder capabilities of vocoders of corresponding communication nodes. In one embodiment, during a call between a first communication node and a second communication node, a control node (e.g., base station controller or mobile switching center) for the first communication node sends capability information for a voice encoder of a vocoder of the first communication node to a control node for the second communication node. As a result, the second communication node is enabled to select and request a preferred encoder mode for the voice encoder of the vocoder of the first communication node based on the capabilities of the voice encoder of the vocoder of the first communication node.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a polymerizable adhesive composition comprising: (i) at least one cyanoacrylate monomer; and (ii) at least one polymerizable compound containing (a) one or more polymerizable carbon-carbon double bonds and (b) one or more biodegradable (BDG) chains. Further are provided the copolymerization product of this composition, and uses thereof in biomedical applications.
Abstract:
Novel medical devices and uses thereof for lining a blood vessel and/or treating an aneurysm are disclosed herein. The device comprises a non-metallic expandable tubular structure, implantable in a body vessel and being made, at least in part, from a polymeric system characterized by a stiffness which changes upon stimulation under physiological conditions. Novel polymeric systems are further disclosed herein, which are configured to produce a polymeric material upon stimulation under physiological conditions, such that a stiffness of said polymeric material is higher than a stiffness of said system. Uses of polymer systems in the manufacture of a device are further disclosed.

Abstract:
Directed energy melter. The melter includes a vessel and structure for introducing waste material into the vessel. Waveguide structure is provided for introducing millimeter wave electromagnetic radiation into the vessel to heat the waste material. A gyrotron is a preferred source for the millimeter wave electromagnetic radiation.
Abstract:
Regeneration system in which a hydrogen-rich gas from an onboard reformer flows into an aftertreatment unit in a direction opposite to the flow of engine exhaust to regenerate the unit. The aftertreatment unit is segmented with independent regeneration capability for each segment. Regeneration is performed with hydrogen-rich gas produced by an onboard reformer. A hydrogen-rich gas switchbox is used to direct the flow of the reformate to the segment of the aftertreatment unit that is undergoing regeneration.
Abstract:
A responsive polymeric system including a responsive polymeric component capable of undergoing a transition that results in a sharp increase in viscosity in response to a triggering effected at a predetermined body site. The system includes a solid non-ceramic reinforcing component which reinforces the polymeric component, and an aqueous-based solvent wherein the viscosity of the responsive polymeric component increases by at least about 2 times upon exposure to a predetermined trigger.
