    摘要: According to the present invention, each of the cylinders of an engine is provided with a swirl port, which generates a swirl in the cylinder, and a conventional straight port. A swirl control valve is disposed in an inlet air passage connected to the straight port for blocking the flow of inlet air through the straight port. A fuel injection port is disposed in each of the swirl port and the straight port. The fuel injection port in the straight port is disposed at the position adjacent to the upper edge of the valve seat of the straight port inlet valve. When the swirl control valve blocks the inlet air passage leading to the straight port, fuel is injected from the fuel injection port of the straight port in the latter half of the intake stroke of the piston. The direction of fuel injection from the fuel injection port in the straight port is determined in such a manner that fuel is injected in the direction between the center axis of the cylinder and the center axis of the stem of the valve element of the inlet valve toward the opposite wall of the cylinder head or the upper part of the opposite wall of the cylinder.

    摘要: A variable swirl siamese type intake port structure for an internal combustion engine cylinder head includes a first generally straight intake passage which leads to a first intake port and a second generally helical intake passage which leads to a second intake port which is formed with a helical end vortex portion. A control valve is fitted in the first generally straight intake passage at an upstream portion thereof so as to control its flow resistance. A bypass passage opens from a point downstream of the control valve in the first generally straight intake passage to the helical end vortex portion of the second intake port. And a downstream portion of the bypass passage is communicated to a downstream portion of the second generally helical intake passage. Thereby the resistance to flow of air-fuel mixture of the generally helical intake passage is diminished, and the engine volumetric efficiency and the maximum attainable engine output power are increased.

The separating wall defines a helical portion, an inlet passage portion tangentially connected to the helical portion, and a bypass passage interconnecting the inlet passage portion and the helical portion. The side wall of the helical portion has a slightly inclined portion located near the outlet portion of the bypass passage and expanding towards the separating wall so as to define a narrow passage portion between the inclined portion and the separating wall.     摘要: An internal combustion engine has a cylinder head formed with a wedge shaped cylinder head recess which has on its one side closer to a spark plug a steeply inclined roof surface of about 38.degree. to 40.degree. inclination and on its other side a gently inclined roof surface of about 5.degree. to 20.degree. inclination formed with an intake valve opening, and a piston formed with a piston recess which generally mates with the cylinder head recess and which has on its one side closer to the spark plug an inclined side surface of about 45.degree. inclination. The planar surface portion of the piston crown and the planar surface portion of the cylinder head on opposite sides of the recessed portions mutually define a relatively large squish area on the side of the gently inclined roof surface and a relatively small squish area on the side of the steeply inclined roof surface. A helical port is connected to the intake valve opening so as to generate a swirl flow of air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber.

The upper half of the inclined wall portion of the side wall of the inlet passage portion is tangentially connected to the circumferential wall of the projection, which has the maximum thickness.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine comprises a first raised portion formed on the inner wall of the cylinder head, a second raised portion formed on the top face of the piston at a position opposite to the first raised portion with respect to the axis of the piston, and a third raised portion formed on the inner wall of the cylinder head above the second raised portion. A first flat squish area is formed between the flat peripheral top face of the piston and the flat bottom face of the first raised portion. A second spherical shell shape squish area is formed between the spherical bottom wall of the third raised portion and the spherical rear face of the second raised portion. A secondary throttle valve is arranged in the intake passage located downstream of the throttle valve of a carburetor. A secondary intake passage is branched off from the intake passage located between the secondary throttle valve and the throttle valve of the carburetor and opens into the intake port at a position near the intake valve. The secondary throttle valve is closed when the engine is operating under a light load, while the secondary throttle valve is opened when an engine is operating under a heavy load.
