摘要: Sensors (20, 50, 70) for use in detecting the presence of sugars and other analytes (target molecules). The sensor is composed of a metal complex that binds to the target molecule and releases a proton or includes an exchangable ligand which is exchanged for the target molecule during the binding interaction between the metal complex and the target molecule. The result of the binding interaction is the release of a proton, hydroxide ion or ligand species generated during the ligand exchange. Measurement of the release of proton, hydroxide ion or other ligand species from the sensor (20, 50, 70) provides an indirect indication of target molecule concentration. The metal complexes may be attached to support structures (10, 12) to provide both anchoring and positioning of the metal ions to increase selectivity of sugar/metal complex interactions. Detection systems in which pH is used as an indication of proton or hydroxide release are disclosed, as are detection systems in which Cl.sup.- release is used. Methods for monitoring the concentrations of sugars and related molecules using the metal based sensors (20, 50, 70) are also disclosed.

摘要: A method includes receiving a request to restore a memory of a client and determining a selected full session from a plurality of full sessions, each full session comprising a respective copy of data received from the memory of the client and a respective backup time stamp. The selected full session includes a most recent full backup having a respective backup time stamp prior to a selected restore time. The method further includes copying the selected full session to a restore session and determining a selected incremental session from a plurality of incremental sessions. Each incremental session includes a respective incremental backup time stamp, and respective changes to the data received from the memory of the client. The method further includes modifying the restore session in a cloud computing environment based on the selected incremental session, and transmitting the modified restore session across a network to the client.

摘要: Methods and compositions for systemically or locally administering by implantation a beneficial agent to a subject are described, and include, for example, depot gel compositions that can be injected into a desired location and which can provide controlled release of a beneficial agent over a short duration of time. The compositions include a low molecular weight biocompatible polymer, a biocompatible solvent having low water miscibility that forms a viscous gel with the polymer and limits water uptake by the implant, and a beneficial agent.

摘要: The invention relates to an electric terminal for leading a conductor through a wall, comprising a first terminal piece (1) to be mounted on one side of the wall, and a second terminal piece (2) to be mounted on the other side of the wall. The first terminal piece (1) has a first connecting element (5) and a holding element (7) for positioning the first connecting element (5), while the second terminal piece (2) has a busbar (4) to be electrically connected to the first connecting element (5). According to the invention, the first connecting element (5) in such an electric terminal for leading a conductor through a wall can be connected to the conductor and/or the busbar (4) in a particularly simple fashion because the first connecting element (5) is positioned in the first terminal piece (1) by the holding element (7).

摘要: A method of depositing a stable diamond film on a metal substrate includes pretreating a surface of the substrate and depositing a diamond film on the substrate by way of a multi-stage chemical vapor deposition, in which each subsequent stage is performed at progressively higher temperature. The deposited diamond may be doped with boron. The substrate may be titanium, a titanium alloy, iron, an iron alloy, or any other valve metal. The diamond deposition may be a high temperature chemical vapor deposition. The first deposition stage may optionally create a carbide of diamond and substrate, and an optional mixture of diamond and amorphous carbon may be deposited to bond this carbide layer to a subsequently applied layer. The resulting product may be used as an electrode, as a tooth or blade in a cutting tool, or may have many other uses.
