    摘要: A picture coding method of the present invention codes a picture signal and a ratio of a number of luminance pixels and a number of chrominance pixels for the picture signal, and then one coding method out of at least two coding methods is selected depending on the ratio. Next, data related to a picture size is coded in accordance with the selected coding method. The data related to the picture size indicates a size of the picture corresponding to the picture signal or an output area, which is a pixel area to be outputted in decoding in a whole pixel area coded in the picture signal coding.

    摘要: A stream generation apparatus of the present invention is a stream generation apparatus which generates a stream including coded pictures and a command for managing a buffer which holds a decoded picture, the command being added to one of the coded pictures as a reference picture. It includes a judging unit which judges whether or not the coded picture to which the command is added is skipped at the time of trick-play, an adding unit which adds, in the case where the coded picture is judged to be skipped, repetition information indicating the same contents as the command to another coded picture that follows, in decoding order, the coded picture judged to be skipped and that is not skipped at the time of the trick-play, and a generating unit which generates the stream including the coded pictures, the command and the repetition information.

The switches select either the field mode or the frame mode according to the notified mode. A field weighting factor coding unit or a frame weighting factor coding unit performs respectively the coding of respective weighting factors when the respective modes are selected.

    摘要: A moving picture decoding apparatus is provided which reduces the deterioration in image quality due to errors by a concealment processing for decoded image data, thereby improving the image quality of decoded images, without causing high deterioration in image quality resulting from the concealment processing. The moving picture decoding apparatus includes a decoder for decoding an input stream for each macroblock and generating decoded image data, a transmission error detector for detecting a transmission error in the input stream, and a stream error detector for detecting a stream error in the input stream. When the transmission error is detected, the moving picture decoding apparatus conceals the decoded image data in macroblock units and when the stream error is detected, the moving picture decoding apparatus conceals the decoded image data in video packet units.
