Abstract:
The invention is directed to an auditory robot for a human or animal like robot, e.g., a human like robot (10) having a noise generating source such as a driving system in its interior. The apparatus includes a sound insulating cover (14) with which at least a head part (13) of the robot is covered; a pair of outer microphones (16; 16a and 16b) installed outside of the cover and located at a pair of positions where a pair of ears may be provided spaced apart for the robot, respectively, for collecting an external sound primarily; at least one inner microphone (17; 17a and 17b) installed inside of the cover for primarily collecting a noise from the noise generating source in the robot interior; and a processing module (18) on the basis of signals from the outer and inner microphones for removing from sound signals from the outer microphones (16a and 16b), a noise signal from the internal noise generating source. Thus, the robot auditory apparatus of the invention is made capable of effecting active perception by permitting an external sound from a target to be collected unaffected by a noise in the inside of the robot such as from the driving system.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a biped walking mobile apparatus, its walk controller, and walk controlling strategy therefor, which are to realize walk stability even under the road surface condition where the foot stance is unstable, for example, such as wet floor, ice, mud, or the carpet of long hair, or when only a part contacts with the floor surface due, for example, to its roughness. A walk controller (30) of the biped walking mobile apparatus comprises the force sensors (23L, 23R) for detecting the forces applied to soles of respective foot portions (14L, 14R) which drive-control the drive means of the respective joint portions (15L, 15R to 20L, 20R) of respective leg portions of the biped walking mobile apparatus based on gait data, and the compensation part (32) for correcting gait data from the gait forming part (24) based on horizontal floor reaction force among the forces detected by the force sensors, and it is constituted so that each force sensor (23L, 23R) comprises 3-axis force sensors set to each part of the soles of each foot portion (14L, 14R) divided in plurality.
Abstract:
An electronic pet having reality by various machines is implemented. An IC card stores a matter to be renewed in accordance with an action when an electronic pet takes the action on the basis of an internal status parameter which contains the feeling of the electronic pet and represents the internal status thereof, and it is detachably mounted in a device functioning as the body of the electronic pet. A virtual pet device functions as the body of the electronic pet and performs processing to display the electronic pet, and it has a slot in which the IC card is detachably mounted. A pet type robot functions as the body of the electronic pet, and it has a slot in which the IC card is detachably mounted.

Abstract:
The invention provides an information retrieval apparatus and an information retrieval method by which information can be retrieved in an improved operability. A CPU controls a video camera to fetch an image and controls a GPS to detect a current position. The CPU reads out, from within image data stored in a corresponding relationship with URLs of WWW servers, those image data which correspond to position data regarding positions around the detected current position from a WWW data base via a modem and a host machine. Then, the CPU selects, from among the read out image data, that image data which matches with the fetched data, reads out a URL corresponding to the image data and accesses a WWW server designated by the URL.
Abstract:
The engine starter includes: a starter motor; a pinion unit (30) for sliding in an axial direction on an output shaft of the starter motor; and a ring gear (100) which meshes with a pinion pushed out by a push-out mechanism (60) and receives a transmission of a rotational force of the starter motor to thereby start an engine, and the pinion portion (30) includes a pinion gear divided in the axial direction into two pinion gears which are a first pinion gear (35) having a protruded shape for synchronization, for first colliding with the ring gear upon start of meshing with the ring gear, and a second pinion gear (34) for serving to transmit the rotational force after the meshing.
Abstract:
A ring gear to be coupled to a crankshaft of an engine; a starter motor for starting the engine; a pinion gear for transmitting rotation of the starter motor to the ring gear; pinion-gear meshing-engagement unit for moving the pinion gear to achieve meshing engagement with the ring gear; rpm-difference acquiring unit for acquiring an rpm difference between the pinion gear and the ring gear; and restart control unit for allowing the pinion gear to be moved by the pinion-gear meshing-engagement unit when the rpm difference between the pinion gear and the ring gear, which is acquired by the rpm-difference acquiring unit, becomes smaller than a threshold value are provided. The restart control unit includes threshold-value setting unit, and the threshold value corresponding to a characteristic to be input to the threshold-value setting unit is preset.
Abstract:
An engine starting device for an automatic idling stop system includes: a crank angle sensor for detecting a crank angle of an engine; a ring gear connected to a crankshaft of the engine, for transmitting rotation of the engine; ring gear rpm detecting section; a starter motor for starting the engine; a pinion gear for transmitting rotation of the starter motor to the ring gear; pinion-gear push-out section for pushing out the pinion gear into meshing engagement with the ring gear; and pinion gear push-out control section for driving the pinion-gear push-out section to bring the pinion gear and the ring gear into meshing engagement when the ring gear rpm detected by the ring gear rotational speed detection section becomes smaller than a threshold value which is determined by at least one of the crank angle, a gear range, and a restart condition.
