    摘要: An engine startup fuel control system for use with a four-cycle internal combustion engine of the type having a plurality of combustion chambers, an air intake passageway, a source of fuel, a crankshaft and a camshaft which operates the engine cylinder valves. A multipoint fuel injector is associated with each combustion chamber and each multipoint fuel injector has an inlet connected to the fuel source and an outlet connected to the air intake passageway adjacent its associated combustion chamber. A crankshaft position sensor generates an output signal representative of the angular position of the crankshaft while, similarly, a camshaft position sensor generates an output signal representative of the angular position of the camshaft. An engine control unit is programmed to determine the synchronization of the engine in response to the output signals from the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor. The engine control unit has outputs which control the activation of each multipoint fuel injector and is programmed to vary the activation of the multipoint fuel injector after determination of the engine synchronization in order to achieve a predetermined air/fuel mixture in each combustion chamber during engine startup.

    摘要: A system for the management of fuel and fuel vapors in the cold start fuel passageway of an internal combustion engine which has a cold start fuel injector which, when activated, introduces fuel into the cold start fuel passageway. The system includes an engine control unit (ECU) which determines the probability of fuel within the cold start passageway. Different procedures programmed in the ECU are then utilized to dissipate the fuel from the cold start passageway. These procedures include delaying the initiation of the spark ignition for the engine, maintaining the heater associated with the cold start fuel injector activated for a period of time following deactivation of the cold start fuel injector, maintaining revolution of the internal combustion engine for a predetermined time period, as well as other strategies.

    摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a method, an apparatus and a system for automatically recognizing motions and actions of moving objects such as humans, animals and machines. Measuring instruments are attached to an object under observation to measure a status change entailing the object's motion or action and to issue a signal denoting the measurements. A characteristic quantity extraction unit extracts a characteristic quantity from the measurement signal received which represents the motion or action currently performed by the object under observation. A signal processing unit for motion/action recognition correlates the extracted characteristic quantity with reference data in a database containing previously acquired characteristic quantities of motions and actions. The motion or action represented by the characteristic quantity with the highest degree of correlation is recognized and output.

    摘要: An improved hot wire gas flow sensor is disclosed having a housing with a passageway in series with a passageway through which the gas flow is measured. The housing includes both a hot wire and cold wire disposed within the passageway. A current circuit maintains the temperature differential between the hot wire and cold wire preferably in the range of 30° C. to 100° C. by varying the current flow through the hot wire. Current limiting circuitry is then utilized to limit the current flow through the hot wire and thus the temperature of the hot wire in order to prevent possible combustion of the gas in the passageway. Additionally, a current augmenting circuit augments the current flow through the hot wire for a limited period of time following the electrical energization of the flow sensor in order to provide rapid heat up of the hot wire in the hot wire sensor. Improvements are also disclosed for fluidly sealing the electrical leads to both the hot wire and cold wire to prevent gas leakage from the sensor.

    摘要: A heater is provided for use in conjunction with a fuel passageway, such as a cold start passageway, in an internal combustion engine in which fuel is injected into the passageway. The heater includes a tubular housing which is insertable into the passageway so that fuel flow through the passageway flows through the interior of the housing. A plurality of heater assemblies are also provided wherein each heating assembly has a capsule and at least one electrical heating element thermally coupled to its associated capsule. The capsules are secured to the housing so that the capsules are circumferentially spaced from each other around the housing. In one embodiment, the capsules are secured to an interior surface of the housing so that one surface of each capsule is open to the passageway. In a second embodiment, the capsules are secured around the outer periphery of the housing and each heating element is thermally connected to the housing.

    摘要: An optical star coupler having a biconically tapered optical star coupler suspensively inserted in a protection tube and the method for manufacturing the same are disclosed, and the manufacturing method is that an optical fiber bundle is inserted into a protection tube such as hollow glass tube, then the optical fiber bundle is twisted and pulled while it is indirectly heated through the protection tube, thereby to form a twisting, fusing and pulling portion, and both ends of the protection tube are sealed with an adhesive agent to fix the optical fiber bundle to the protection tube. This optical star coupler can be constructed so as to be connected in tandem without any splicing. The optical star coupler of the present invention, naturally in the case of an optical star coupler using multi-mode optical fiber, particularly in the case of one equally divided optical star coupler using single-mode optical fiber, also provides low insertion loss, less power deviation and low manufacturing cost.
