Hydraulic isolation between the interior and exterior of the tubular is provided by pressure barrier means at the slotted stations. Sensors and/or sources are mounted on the run-in tool, which is adapted for transmission through a drill string to engage within the tubular in alignment with the slotted stations. A run-in tool configuration includes a modulator for real-time wireless communication with the surface and/or remote downhole tools. A tubular and run-in tool configuration also includes inductive couplers for wireless signal data transfer. A method for measuring a formation characteristic utilizing a run-in tool adapted with an interchangeable end segment for multi-mode downhole transport. Methods for sealing an opening on the surface of a tubular having an elongated body with tubular walls and a central bore.

摘要: A multifunction peripheral server discovery method with reduced network traffic is disclosed. Peripheral servers on a network advertise their basic function, such as print, and clients seeking peripherals with an additional function, such as scan, retrieve ID strings of peripherals having the basic function to determine if the additional function is available. The method also permits a user of a client on the network to enter addresses of peripherals not discovered when the client searches for peripherals having the additional function. The method also permits selection of a network protocol to be used by the client. An additional preferred step in the method is a determination of whether discovered peripherals having the additional function are compatible with a software application run by the client.

摘要: A configurable printer driver, resident on a host (source) computer is enabled to respond to a print job request by manipulating a source bitmap prior to its transmission to a destination printer. The printer driver includes plural, substantially independent, bitmap manipulation procedures which may be linked to provide an image processing pipeline. The method of the invention initially determines which bitmap manipulations should be performed on the source computer, to minimize the quantity of bitmap data to be dispatched to the destination printer or to maximize processing efficiency of the print job request. Based upon the aforesaid determination, a bitmap processor pipeline is assembled from stored bitmap manipulation procedures to perform manipulations of the source bitmap in the source computer. The bitmap manipulations are then performed, using the assembled bitmap processor pipeline. The resulting processed raster bitmap is then transferred to the destination printer.

摘要: A method and an apparatus for encoding an image signal. The apparatus includes an acquisition module disposed to receive the image signal. A first processor is coupled to the acquisition module. At least one encoder processor is coupled to the first processor. The at least one encoder processor produces an encoded image signal under control of the first processor. The method includes the steps of converting an input image signal into a predetermined digital format and transferring the digital format image signal to at least one encoder processor. The method further includes the step of applying, at the at least one encoder processor, a hierarchical vector quantization compression algorithm to the digitized image signal. At the next step, a resultant encoded bit stream generated by the application of the algorithm is collected. The method and apparatus of the present invention may be used in conjunction with an ordinary modem to transmit and/or receive audio, video sequences or still images.

摘要: A two compartment motor has a frame, a pair of end shields disposed adjacent opposing ends of the frame to define a first compartment, a stator winding supported by the frame within the first compartment, an armature rotatably supported by the end shields and disposed within the first compartment adjacent the stator winding, a cover mounted to the motor adjacent one of the end shields to define a second compartment between the cover and the end shield, and a control plate mounted within the second compartment. The control plate serves as a mounting surface for securing a plurality of electrical components used in the control and operation of the motor in position within the second compartment. The control plate is a molded plastic component having integrally formed mounting mechanisms for at least one of the electrical components. The electrical components may include a starting capacitor, voltage and/or speed control switches, an overload device and electrical terminals. Ventilation openings, lead openings and shields may also be integrally formed in the control plate. The plate may be provided with recesses to accommodate electrical connectors, a centrifugal switch and other components. A method of assembling the motor includes mounting the plurality of components to the control plate to form a sub-assembly prior to connecting this sub-assembly to the other components of the motor.

摘要: Disclosed is a bag dispenser for the storing therein and drop-down dispensing therefrom of shopping bags comprising a blank divided by fold line and slit lines defining a front wall, left and right side walls, back wall, back wall seal flap, left and right side bottom flaps, top cover, top cover lock flap, and left and right side top flaps. The blank is folded along its fold lines and is assembled to form a box-like structure. The front wall, correspondingly perforated in configuration, defines an inverted T-shaped panel which is removed via the resulting weakened tear line. Such removed T-shaped panel provides a horizontal slot portion through which the shopping bags may be dispensed one at a time and a centrally located vertical slot portion for determining the number of shopping bags stored in such dispenser.

摘要: A compressed data display system. There is disclosed a system for recording over extended periods of time EKG and other vital signs of a patient and for automatically displaying the waveforms in a compressed and readily interpretable manner. The EKG waveform is recorded on looped paper supported by and/or wrapped around rotatable drum or drums which may have cylindrical shape. The EKG is recorded in helical or spiral fashion by simultaneously rotating the drum and transversely moving a galvanometer pen in the direction of the axis of rotation of the drum or cylinder. After the paper is removed, if it is a continuous or closed loop, it can be slit and opened into a single sheet. The recorded EKG waveforms are thus displayed compressed in a line-over-line manner and provide the physician with a clear picture of the patient's heart activity for extended periods of time.
