摘要: A device is provided for monitoring the integrity of a flow circuit in fluid communication with a receptacle. The flow circuit includes a pumping device for transferring fluid through the flow circuit. The device operates according to a monitoring method in which a pressure signal is received from a pressure sensor, the pressure signal being indicative of fluid pressure in the receptacle or the flow circuit. The pressure signal is then processed for detection of a beating signal. The beating signal manifests itself as an amplitude modulation of the pressure signal and is formed by interference between pressure waves generated by a pulse generator associated with the receptacle and pressure waves generated by the pumping device. The integrity of the flow circuit is determined based at least partly on the presence or absence of the beating signal. The device and the flow circuit may be part of an apparatus for extracorporeal blood treatment, and the method may be implemented as a computer program product.

摘要: A monitoring device is arranged to receive a time-dependent measurement signal from a pressure sensor in a fluid containing system, which is associated with a first pulse generator and a second pulse generator. The pressure sensor is arranged in the fluid containing system to detect a first pulse originating from the first pulse generator and a second pulse originating from the second pulse generator. The monitoring device is configured to process the measurement signal to remove the first pulse. In this process, the monitoring device receives the measurement signal, obtains a first pulse profile which is a predicted temporal signal profile of the first pulse, and filters the measurement signal in the time-domain, using the first pulse profile, to essentially eliminate the first pulse while retaining the second pulse. The fluid containing system may include an extracorporeal blood flow circuit and a blood circuit of a human patient.

摘要: A device is configured to monitor the integrity of a connection system between first and second fluid containing systems comprising first and second pulse generators. A pressure sensor is arranged in the first fluid containing system to detect first pulses originating from the first pulse generator and second pulses originating from the second pulse generator. The device operates a monitoring method, by generating (42) a time-dependent pressure signal based on measurement data obtained from the pressure sensor such that the pressure signal contains a sequence of apparent pulses. The apparent pulses represent a superposition of the second pulses on the first pulses when the connection system (C) is intact. The device processes (44) the pressure signal to calculate a parameter value based on a pulse feature of at least one of the apparent pulses in the pressure signal. The parameter value represents a disturbance caused by the superposition of the second pulses on the first pulses, and may be given as a measure of statistical dispersion, pulse-to-pulse symmetry, or first pulse similarity. The device determines (45) the integrity of the connection system based at least partly on the parameter value. The first fluid containing system may be an extracorporeal blood circuit, and the second fluid containing system may be a human or animal subject.

摘要: The invention relates to estimation of a patient's propensity to suffer from symptomatic hypotension during extracorporeal blood treatment. An electromagnetic test signal, which is applied over a thoracic region of the patient via at least one transmitter electrode. A result signal produced in response to the test signal is received via at least one receiver electrode on the patient. A test parameter is derived based on the result signal. The test parameter expresses a fluid status of the thoracic region of the patient, and it is determined whether the test parameter fulfills an alarm criterion. If the test parameter fulfills an alarm criteria, an alarm signal is generated. This signal indicates that the patient is hypotension prone, and that appropriate measures should be taken.

摘要: The invention relates to prediction of a rapid symptomatic drop in a subject's blood pressure, e.g. during a medical treatment or when operating an aircraft. To this aim, a pulse shape parameter (Pps) with respect to a peripheral body part (105) of the subject (P) is registered by means of a pulse oximetry instrument (110) adapted to detect light response variations in blood vessels. An initial pulse magnitude measure is calculated based on a pulse shape parameter (Pps) received at a first instance. During a measurement period subsequent to the first instance, a respective pulse magnitude measure is calculated based on each of a number of received pulse shape parameters (Pps). It is further investigated, for each pulse magnitude measure in the measurement period, whether or not the measure fulfils a decision criterion relative to the initial pulse magnitude measure. An alarm triggering signal (α) is generated if the decision criterion is found to be fulfilled.

摘要: A monitoring arrangement 100 is configured to predict a rapid symptomatic drop in a subject's blood pressure, e.g. during a medical treatment or when operating aircraft. To this aim, a pulse shape parameter (pps) with respect to a peripheral body part (105) of the subject (P) is repeatedly registered by means of a pulse oximetry instrument (110) adapted to detect light response variations in blood vessels. A respective pulse magnitude measure is calculated based on each of a number of received pulse shape parameters (pps), and a statistical dispersion measure is calculated based on the thus-calculated pulse magnitude measure. It is investigated whether or not the statistical dispersion measure fulfils a decision criterion relative to a reference measure. An output signal (α) is generated if the decision criterion is found to be fulfilled.

摘要: A monitoring device is included in a medical system to implement a method for prediction of a rapid symptomatic drop in a subject's blood pressure, e.g. during a medical treatment such as dialysis. To this aim, a pulse shape parameter (pPS) with respect to a pulse generator of the subject is registered by means of a pressure sensor arranged in an extracorporeal blood flow circuit coupled to a cardiovascular system of the subject (P). The pressure sensor is configured to detect pressure variations in blood vessels of the subject (P). It is investigated, during measurement period, whether or not one or more of the pulse shape parameters fulfil a decision criterion. An output signal (a) is generated if the decision criterion is found to be fulfilled, to indicate a predicted rapid symptomatic blood pressure decrease in the subject (P). The decision criterion may operate on pulse magnitude measures calculated for the received pulse shape parameters (pPS), or statistical dispersion measures calculated based on the thus-calculated pulse magnitude measures.

摘要: A device and method for detecting fault conditions in a fluid connection system between a first fluid containing system including a first pulse generator (e.g., an extracorporeal blood circuit) and a second fluid containing system including a second pulse generator (e.g., a human or animal vascular system). A pressure sensor detects first pulses from the first pulse generator and second pulses from the second pulse generator. A time-dependent monitoring signal based on data obtained from said pressure sensor is generated and processed to calculate a parameter value indicative of the shape of at least part of a first pulse in the monitoring signal. The parameter value is evaluated to detect the fault condition. The fault condition may involve disconnection of an access device; reversed connection of access devices; occlusion of the fluid path through an access device; or infiltration in tissue surrounding an access point in the vascular system.

摘要: A control system (23) is arranged to control the operation of an apparatus (200) for extracorporeal blood treatment. The apparatus (200) comprises an extracorporeal blood circuit (20) and a connection system (C) for connecting the blood circuit (20) to the vascular system of a patient. The blood circuit (20) comprises a blood processing device (6), and at least one pumping device (3). The control system is operable to switch between a pre-treatment mode and a blood treatment mode. The blood treatment mode involves operating the blood circuit (20) to pump blood from the vascular system via the connection system (C) through the blood processing device (6) and back to the vascular system via the connection system (C). The control system (23) is operable to obtain measurement data from at least one energy transfer sensor (40) arranged to sense a transfer of energy between the patient and the connection system (C) or between the patient and the blood circuit (20). The control system (23) is configured to, in the pre-treatment mode, process the measurement data for identification of a characteristic change indicating a connection of the blood circuit (20) to the vascular system of the patient, and, upon such identification, take dedicated action. The action may involve activating at least part of a patient protection system and/or enabling entry into the blood treatment mode. The control system may be included in an apparatus (200) for blood treatment, such as a dialysis machine.
