Abstract:
A power generating apparatus includes a rotating shaft, a hydraulic pump driven by the rotating shaft, a hydraulic motor driven by pressurized oil supplied from the hydraulic pump, and a generator coupled to the hydraulic motor. Each of the hydraulic pump and motor includes working chambers each defined by a cylinder and a piston, a high pressure manifold and a low pressure manifold. Each of the high and low pressure manifolds includes branch channels connected to the working chambers and a merging channel connected to a high or low pressure oil line. The branch channels are equipped with high or low pressures valves, joined together and merged into the merging channel.
Abstract:
A renewable energy turbine generator (1), such as a wind turbine generator, comprises a hydraulic pump (20), a hydraulic motor (24) and an oil circuit (26, 28) connecting the hydraulic pump and the hydraulic motor. Oil in the low pressure side (28) of the oil circuit is cooled and supplied to the working chambers (95) of the hydraulic pump. A reduced temperature oil feed provides additionally cooled oil to the bearings of the hydraulic pump and the hydraulic motor. Thus, cooler and more viscous oil is supplied to the bearings (84) of the hydraulic pump and/or hydraulic motor and warmer and less viscous oil is supplied to the working chambers, increasing the efficiency and lifetime of the bearings and of the working portions of the hydraulic pump and motor.
Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to provide a wind turbine generator and a tidal current generator equipped with a hydraulic transmission with a combination of a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic motor and which has a superior productivity and maintainability. The wind turbine generator 1 has the hydraulic transmission 10 for transmitting the rotation energy of a main shaft 8 to a generator 20. The hydraulic transmission 10 includes a hydraulic pump 12 of variable displacement type which is driven by the main shaft 8, a hydraulic motor 14 of variable displacement type which is connected to the generator 20, and a high pressure oil line and a low pressure oil line which are arranged between the hydraulic pump 12 and the hydraulic motor 14. The hydraulic transmission 10 is at least partially constituted of a plurality of modules (M1 to M7).

Abstract:
A bicycle suspension assembly is first provided with an inertia valve for selectively altering the compression damping rate of the shock absorber. The bicycle suspension assembly is also provided with at least one adjustable fluid damping circuit through which fluid may flow during operation of the suspension assembly. The fluid flow resistance through the adjustable fluid damping circuit may be adjusted without requiring any disassembly of the bicycle suspension assembly by using a movable external controller.
Abstract:
A method for making an energetic material is described, and which includes the steps of providing a source of aqueous nitric acid having a concentration of less than about 95% by weight; mixing a surfactant with the source of the aqueous nitric acid so as to dehydrate the aqueous nitric acid to produce a source of nitronium ions; providing a carbon dioxide environment; providing a source of an organic material to be nitrated to the carbon dioxide environment; and controllably mixing the source of nitronium ions with the carbon dioxide environment to nitrate the organic material and produce a resulting energetic material.
Abstract:
A quick coupler hitch has a one piece curved tube frame, rearwardly projecting upwardly opening hooks on each leg of the frame, each hook having a latch pivotable between an unlocked position and a locked position. A central pivot mechanism is mounted on the curved tube frame and has a shaft with a generally vertical axis. Flexible links extend through the curved tube frame between the central pivot mechanism and each of the latches. The central pivot mechanism is manually pivotable about the generally vertical axis of the shaft to retract or extend the flexible links to lock or unlock the latches.
Abstract:
A self-contained avionics sensing and flight control system is provided for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The system includes sensors for sensing flight control parameters and surveillance parameters, and a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver. Flight control parameters and location signals are processed to generate flight control signals. A Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is configured to provide a look-up table storing sets of values with each set being associated with a servo mechanism mounted on the UAV and with each value in each set indicating a unique duty cycle for the servo mechanism associated therewith. Each value in each set is further indexed to a bit position indicative of a unique percentage of a maximum duty cycle for the servo mechanism associated therewith. The FPGA is further configured to provide a plurality of pulse width modulation (PWM) generators coupled to the look-up table. Each PWM generator is associated with and adapted to be coupled to one of the servo mechanisms.
