    Abstract: A method for monitoring wireless data communication by a user equipment connected to a wireless data network is disclosed. The method, which is performed by the user equipment, comprises the a) receiving at least one signal, wherein the at least one signal comprises at least one characteristic of a wake-up signal, b) determining whether the at least one signal is a wake-up signal or a false alarm wake-up signal, and c) reporting, based on said determining, information on the at least one signal to the wireless data network.

    Abstract: Network assistance is provided for the streaming of data from a user equipment (UE) (14) to an ingestion point (12) in a network. The network assistance may include establishing an uplink network assistance (UNA) session with a network assistance service of the network; while streaming of the data and for each segment of the data or each UNA period of the data, receiving from the network assistance service an indication of a recommended highest bit rate estimate with which the data may be streamed under current network conditions. The UE may adjust content of the data stream in accordance with the indication of the recommended highest bit rate estimation.

    Abstract: A method of operating a terminal device and a base station in a wireless telecommunications system to communicate with one another using a primary component carrier operating on radio resources within a first frequency band and a secondary component carrier operating on radio resources within a second frequency band. The terminal device makes measurements of radio usage in the second frequency band, e.g. by other devices which are not part of the wireless telecommunications system but which can also use radio resources within the second frequency band. The terminal device transmits an indication of the measurements to the base station, and on the basis if this the base station establishes a configuration setting for the secondary component carrier, for example in terms of frequency resources to use for the secondary component carrier. The configuration setting is associated with a validity period during which the base station communicates data to the terminal device using the primary component carrier and the secondary component carrier operating in accordance with its configuration setting. When the validity period expires, the terminal device again measures and reports on radio usage so the base station can determine an updated configuration setting for the secondary component carrier that takes account of any changes in radio usage during the validity period.

    Abstract: An electronic device (14) detects when a downlink reference signal has not been received from a base station (12), and initiates transmission of an uplink reference signal (64) in response to determining that certain trigger criteria have been satisfied. Upon receiving the uplink reference signal (64) or a notification signal (60) from the electronic device (14), the base station (12) can perform various actions to maintain network mobility and handover performance. In this manner, the disclosed approach allows a network to maintain mobility and handover performance even when a base station (12) is unable to transmit downlink reference signals due to an occupied communication channel.
