Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus and method for switching a navigation mode between a vehicle navigation mode and a personal navigation mode in a navigation device supporting vehicle navigation and personal navigation. Switching between the vehicle navigation mode and the personal navigation mode is performed according to whether the navigation device is mounted in a navigation device holder, whether a GPS speed provided by a GPS receiver is higher than a predetermined speed, and whether a step is detected using an output of an accelerometer. Since mode switching between the vehicle navigation mode and the personal navigation mode is automatically performed, a user does not need to manually perform mode switching.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method detect a motion in a mobile station. A motion is determined via a motion detecting function in the mobile station. A parameter for motion detection is determined from sensor data obtained via a sensor. The extracted parameter for the motion detection is transmitted to a counterpart mobile station. A parameter for motion detection determined by the counterpart mobile station is received from the counterpart mobile station. The extracted parameter is compared with the parameter received from the counterpart mobile station to determine a function associated with a motion input by a user.
Abstract:
A method of scrolling a screen in a display apparatus includes initiating a screen-scroll according to a speed of a currently generated flick input when the flick input is generated, comparing a tilt of an axis of a corresponding apparatus with an initial location at a time of generation of the flick input to determine whether a change amount of a change is within a reference value, maintaining a current screen-scroll speed if the change amount deviates from the reference value, and stopping a screen-scroll operation when a scroll stop condition is met.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus to provide a service using a sensor and image recognition in a portable terminal that supports Augmented Reality (AR). The method includes determining whether the portable terminal is parallel to ground using an acceleration sensor. When the portable terminal is parallel to the ground, either a map including nearby Point Of Interest (POI) information or constellation information is displayed.
Abstract:
A low power detection apparatus and a method for displaying information are provided. When a low power manager drives a proximity detection sensor to generate a proximity interrupt in a state within which the portable terminal is in an idle state, the low power manager drives a motion detection sensor and determines a motion of the portable terminal for a preset time. When there is no motion of the portable terminal for the preset time, the low power manager generates proximity data for displaying screen information and then transmits the generated proximity data to an application processor so as to display screen information which the user desires with low power.

Abstract:
An apparatus and method are provided for switching a navigation mode between a vehicle navigation mode and a pedestrian navigation mode. The apparatus includes a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver configured to receive a GPS signal; and a controller configured to calculate a speed of the apparatus by using the GPS signal received by the GPS receiver, compare the calculated speed of the apparatus with a threshold speed, and determine the navigation mode of the apparatus between the vehicle navigation mode and the pedestrian navigation mode based on the comparison.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a method for access configuration in a wireless network includes acquiring authentication information of a digital device and information needed to access an Access Point (AP) of the digital device, from a Radio Frequency IDentifier (RFID) tag, and accessing the AP.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an electronic device including a touch sensor configured to sense at least one touch on at least two different lateral sides of the electronic device, and a controller configured to determine a state of the electronic device when the electronic device has been gripped, determine a grip pattern based on the sensed at least one touch on the at least two different lateral sides of the electronic device, and perform a function based on the determined grip pattern and state of the electronic device.
Abstract:
A mobile terminal and method for controlling place recognition are provided. The method includes collecting at least one of state information about a mobile terminal and user information stored in the mobile terminal, determining whether a current place of the mobile terminal is a major place that the user has previously visited at least a number of times using the collected information, determining, if it is determined that the current place of the mobile terminal is a major place, whether the current place has been registered using at least one signal received externally, and outputting a result of the determination as to whether the current place has been registered.
