Abstract:
A method for audibly spelling a word in an audio file includes playing an audio file to a user, receiving a command to spell a word in the audio file from the user, identifying a textual word in a text file corresponding to the word, and audibly spelling the textual word. A text-to-speech system includes a memory and a text-to-speech module. The text-to-speech module generates an audio file from a text file, and stores in the memory locations for words in the audio file corresponding to locations of words in the text file.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a conference bridge receives a call initiated by a first caller endpoint. The conference bridge identifies a conference to which the call requests entry and determines whether the conference bridge has available resources to process the call. The conference bridge enables the call to join the conference via a second conference bridge associated with a second caller endpoint participating in the conference according to whether the conference bridge has available resources to process the call.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is described to process an incoming telephone call. The method may comprise, at a recipient telephone system, receiving the incoming call including speech and identifying when a Do-Not-Disturb option is set. The Do-Not-Disturb option may identify that a user has requested not to receive telephone calls. Content analysis may be performed to identify content of the speech and a reference database may be interrogated based on the content to identify an associated rule. Thereafter, the Do-Not-Disturb option may be selectively overridden based on the associated rule. The content analysis may comprise performing speech recognition on the speech to obtain a reference word/phrase and interrogating the reference database with the word/phrase to identify the associated rule. A method of configuring a Do-Not-Disturb option in a telephone system is also described that allows a user to define reference words and associated rules.
Abstract:
A method for reserving resources in a conferencing system includes receiving a conference reservation request for a first conference comprising at least one invitee. The method also includes reserving for the at least one invitee a conference resource to allow the at least one invitee to participate in the first conference using the conference resource. The conference resource is usable by the at least one invitee to participate in one or more additional conferences occurring simultaneously with the first conference.
Abstract:
A method and voice communicator to provide a voice communication is described. The method may include identifying text to be communicated and automatically processing the text to generate an audio equivalent of the text. For example, the text may be scraped from a web page. The method may include identifying an intended recipient of the audio equivalent and thereafter communicating the audio equivalent as a telephone communication (e.g., a voice mail message in a voice mailbox). Thus, identifying the intended recipient may include requesting a telephone number of a sender (caller) of the voice communication. In an embodiment, the method comprises monitoring selection by a user of a contact list available on the voice communicator wherein the contact list includes a plurality of recipient names and their associated telephone numbers. The audio equivalent is communicated to the recipient device over, for example, PSTN or VoIP network.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus to process an incoming message is described. The method may comprise, at a recipient system, receiving an incoming message from a message communicator and automatically analyzing message content to identify a keyword included in the message content. Thereafter, a predefined action associated with the keyword may be identified and the action may be performed. In an example embodiment, the predefined action may be a priority with the message, alerting an intended recipient of the message, routing the message to the intended recipient, paging the intended recipient, emailing the message to the intended recipient, sending an SMS message to the intended recipient, or the like. In an example embodiment, a user/owner of a mailbox may search a message database to identify incoming messages which includes the search term in the message content.
Abstract:
A method for automatic call distribution includes receiving an incoming call for distribution through an automatic call distributor and identifying an agent to handle the incoming call. The method includes transitioning the agent to a transition state to reserve the agent for handling the incoming call. The transition state prevents the agent from participating in a lower priority call.
Abstract:
A method for facilitating a data session in a communications environment is provided that includes receiving, at a first endpoint, a call that was initiated by a second endpoint. The first endpoint is already engaged in a previous call. The method further includes invoking a reverse eCamp-On™ feature in response to receiving the call from the second endpoint such that the first endpoint initiates a new call to the second endpoint once the previous call is completed.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and apparatus for methods and apparatus for automatically contacting a service center for one or more particular products, as well as contacting other types of entities with respect to any type of item. In a first embodiment, each item includes a radio frequency identification (RFID) of the particular products that is used to automatically contact a service center or the like. In a second embodiment, the RFID of the particular product is automatically sent to the service center or the like. In the first embodiment, the RFID of each product contains contact information, such as a 1-800 telephone number, a URL address, or email address, for a particular service center or the like. In one implementation, an RFID reader is coupled with a communication device, such as a telephone or computer device, and the user uses the RFID reader to scan an RFID of a particular item (e.g., a malfunctioning product). The relevant service center or the like is then contacted based on the RFID scan. For example, the user is connected to an agent at the relevant service center via a telephone or computer network. In the second embodiment, when a service center (or the like) needs RFID tag data for a particular item, a user may select a “send” option (e.g., on the communication device or reader) to have such RFID tag data automatically transmitted to the service center or the like.
Abstract:
A method for providing a conference service using speaker selection includes hosting a conference between a plurality of endpoints and receiving from the plurality of endpoints a plurality of media streams. The plurality of media streams each include a power indicator. The method includes normalizing the power indicators to determine a normalized power indicator for each of the plurality of media streams and selecting, based on the normalized power indicators of the plurality of media streams, a first number of the plurality of media streams for processing into a conference stream. The method also includes processing the selected first number of the plurality of media streams into the conference stream and communicating the conference stream to at least some of the plurality of endpoints.
