摘要: To respective pixel regions formed on a liquid-crystal side of one of a pair of substrates which are arranged to face each other in an opposed manner while sandwiching liquid crystal therebetween, pixel electrodes which reflect an external light incident on the pixel electrodes through the other substrate are provided. Protruding portions are formed on a surface of the pixel electrode in a scattered manner and the protruding portions have two or more kinds of shapes which are different from each other when the pixel electrodes are viewed in a plan view. The protruding portions formed on the surface of the pixel electrode are formed of island-like multi-layered material layers which are positioned at lower layer sides of the pixel electrodes. Due to such a constitution, the generation of the interference light can be suppressed.

摘要: In a liquid crystal display panel, the shrinkage of an end-scaling material for sticking a pair of substrates together is prevented or relaxed to restrain peeling of the end-sealing material from the substrates, thereby preventing any leakage of a liquid crystal and penetration of contaminants. A liquid crystal display device is assembled by bonding together a pair of substrates, which are opposed to each other across a predetermined gap and at least one of which has an electrode group formed over a surface opposed to the other substrate, with a sealing material along their peripheries excluding a liquid crystal filling port, and then sealing the liquid crystal filling port with an end-sealing material after the filling of the liquid crystal and hermetically sealing the liquid crystal in the gap between both substrates. In the liquid crystal display device, a resin which constitutes the end-sealing material contains particulates of average particle size of 0.1 &mgr;m to 3.5 &mgr;m by at least 1 volume % to 30 volume %, preferably, 1 volume % to 10 volume %.

摘要: A photoresist 10 is exposed to light from behind a substrate by using as photomask a wiring electrodes 2 and 4 and a switching element 8 which are individually composed of an opaque member, whereby a passivation layer 9 for the switching element 8 is patterned. By virtue of this method, a photomask becomes unnecessary and jogs of the passivation layer 9 can be formed outside the transparent pixel electrode 7. Therefore, an unsatisfactory orientation of a liquid crystal can be made invisible without enlarging the black matrix of a counter substrate. Furthermore, since a passivation layer can be removed in portions not requiring the passivation layer, image-sticking can be reduced and the quality of displayed picture can be greatly improved. The present invention makes it possible to reduce the number of photomasks used for production of an actively addressing substrate and improve the picture quality of a liquid crystal display.

摘要: A current flowing through the automotive battery and the battery voltage are measured by the battery current measuring means and the battery voltage measuring means. The battery is connected to a plurality of wiring harnesses which in turn connect to a plurality of loads. Data on normal resistance values between the battery and the wiring harnesses as produced by each of the loads being activated are stored and held in the load current data holding means. When the resistance value comparison means determines that the resistance value between the battery and the wiring harnesses calculated by the resistance value calculating means does not agree with the data of normal resistance values between the battery and the wiring harnesses held by the load resistance data holding means and produced by each of the loads being activated, it is decided that abnormal currents are flowing through the wiring harnesses.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device has a plurality of pixel elements, the optical transmissivity of which is varied by suitable electrical signals. The liquid crystal display device has electrodes which apply electric fields to a liquid crystal layer, the electric fields having components in a direction generally parallel to the liquid crystal layer. Each pixel element has at least one pixel electrode which extends in a common direction as a signal electrode and common electrodes which extend over several pixel elements. The common electrodes may be on the same side of the liquid crystal layer as the pixel and signal electrodes, or they may be on opposite sides. Each pixel may have two pixel electrodes with the signal electrode disposed therebetween, and there are then a pair of common electrodes with the pixel electrodes therebetween. The common electrodes may be common to adjacent pixel elements. The pixel electrodes and the common electrodes may be separated by an insulating film.

摘要: An optical recording/reproducing apparatus includes a plurality of semiconductor lasers, an objective lens for focusing light beams from the semiconductor lasers on an optical disk to form a plurality of light spots, and a correction unit for reducing an offset in a tracking signal occurring concomitantly with relative position correction for the light spots. The correction unit includes a rotary wedge-shaped prism disposed in an optical path through which a laser beam incident on the optical disk and a reflection laser beam from a light spot on the disk pass in opposite directions. The shape, refractive index and initial installation angle of the wedge-shaped prism are designed to have predetermined values that cancel the position shift of the laser beam on the objective lens surface occurring concomitantly with deflection of the laser beam.
