摘要: A sequential process-pipeline has a first processing stage (30) coupled to a CODEC (24) through a plurality of buffers, including an image data input buffer (28), an image data output buffer (26), and an address buffer (34). The image data input buffer stores, for each block of image data, control information for controlling the processing of an associated block of image data. The address buffer stores addresses, each of which identifies an initial address of a block of addresses within an image memory (22). A local controller (18) is responsive to the writing of an address into the address buffer to read the control information for a block to be processed, and to initiate the operation of the CODEC, in accordance with the read-out information, to execute a Discrete Cosine Transformation Process and a Discrete Cosine Transformation Quantization Process.

摘要: A method and apparatus, particularly suited to SIMD instruction sets, to filter streaming video information encoded under a predictive encoding algorithm specified under video encoding standards, such as MPEG 4 or H.264/AVC. The filtering operation de-blocks or removes unwanted borders in the perceived video. During the filtering process, a series of filtering mask is generated based on temporal and spatial statistics of predictive encoded video information, which is then recursively applied to the video in order to gate filtered or unfiltered video to an output channel according to coefficients of the masks. The filtering mask effectively yields a decision or rule-based map that transforms the video on a pixel-by-pixel basis thereby avoiding complex and processor-intensive decision tree logic customarily required to process individual pixels of successive macroblocks that may have different filtering requirements.

The reamer also includes a second part-spherical element having an outer surface extending from the intermediate point towards the equator. Further, the reamer includes means for releasably coupling the first and second portions to form the modular part-spherical reamer.

摘要: A fibrillar, nanotextured coating is deposited on a substrate by contacting the substrate with a reaction mixture comprising a reagent which is hydrolyzable to produced a cross-linked reaction product, and a first solvent which solvates the reagent and the reaction product. The reagent is hydrolyzed so as to provide a cross-linked reaction product which is bonded to the substrate. The substrate is then contacted with a second solvent which is a non-solvent for the reaction product so as to cause nanoscopic phase separation of the reaction product, resulting in the formation of a fibrillar nanotextured coating which is bonded to the substrate. The thus produced coating may be subjected to further chemical modification. The method may be utilized to produce superhydrophobic coatings. Also disclosed are coatings made by the method of the present invention.

摘要: A labeling apparatus has a source of printed labels that have adhesive backing, a vacuum pickup with two opposable arms, a blower bar to support a label on air. Each opposable arm has its own vacuum head and each head is removably attachable to a respective end portion of the label. The apparatus also has a label position sensor, and the vacuum pickup is movable from a pickup position to a wrap position. Each pickup arm has a plurality of spring loaded pins. A two layer label has a backing strip, an inner layer, and an outer layer, and at least one removable portion of the outer layer. The label has a neck portion and two end portions, such that the label set may be wrapped a container with the two end portions adhered back to back to each other. The neck portion is relatively narrower than either of the two end portions and is relatively offset so that it is closer to a front edge of the label.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for allocating bits to pictures in accordance with the bit allocation constraints for operation at both constant and variable bit rates. A statistical complexity measure which is an estimate of the average encoding complexity of the entire data is updated after encoding each picture. This set of parameters, along with an estimate of the encoding complexity of the current picture and the desired average coding rate is used to allocate target bits for encoding the current picture. One method of allocating bits to a picture is to used the statistical complexity measure to vary the instantaneous rate of encoding and allocate bits for this picture so as to generate encoded data at this rate. Another method is to modulate the target generated by a conventional encoder using the current level of the Virtual Buffer Verifier and the deviation of the estimated encoding complexity of the current picture from the statistical complexity measures.
