摘要: There are provided methods and apparatus for stereoscopic video coding using scalable video coding. A scalable video encoder includes an encoder (100) for encoding at least two views corresponding to multi-view video content by, encoding a particular view of the at least two views as a base layer, and encoding each of at least one other view of the at least two views as an enhancement layer using a prediction from a lower layer corresponding to at least one of the particular view and the at least one other view. The at least two views are encoded based on a selection from among at least two of temporal, spatial, and signal to noise ratio scalability techniques.

摘要: The present principles relate to a hypothetical reference decoder (HRD) for a Scalable Video Coding extension for a compression algorithm. One such implementation proposes to modify the H.264/AVC HRD for use with the SVC of AVC. That implementation defines HRD constraints for each interoperability point of SVC. One implementation in particular is described, but other implementations are possible and are contemplated by the present principles. The changes for spatial, temporal, and SNR scalability are shown. There are also changes to the related HRD parameters followed that are shown. The several mentioned implementations provide rules for an HRD for SVC. At least one implementation proposes the SVC-HRD rules as modifications to the AVC-HRD rules. A user may use the proposed SVC-HRD rules to build an SVC-HRD and test a bitstream for SVC compliance.

摘要: A method and system for identifying and determining banding artifacts in digital video content composed of a sequence of moving video pictures includes creating a mask image corresponding to a picture from said sequence of moving video pictures based on global gradient changes to detect potential areas containing banding artifacts. The values of the mask image are scaled thereby making banding artifact detection possible using gradient operators. The banding artifacts are then identified/detected based on the local gradients.

摘要: To characterize film grain, a Film Grain Characterizer (23) receives an incoming information stream (12) and a filtered information stream (24) from which the film grain has been removed. From these streams, the Film Grain Characterizer (23) outputs a message that contains an identity of a model for simulating grain, as well at least one of a set of several parameters, including correlation parameters, intensity-independent parameters and intensity-dependent parameters used by the identified model. An encoder (26, 13) encodes the film grain information for subsequent transmission.

摘要: To simulate film grain in a compressed video signal, a decoder (15, 28) receives a message containing information that contains a set of one or more parameters, each specifying certain attribute associated with the film grain. For example, one of the parameters will specify the model used to simulate the film grain, whereas other parameters each specify a particular factor associated with that model. Upon receipt of the message, the decoder selects the model, and simulates the film grain for addition to the video signal following decompression.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of coding segmented pictures, or partitions, divided into homogeneous regions. Said method, called intra-mode coding process, comprises, for each successive partition, the steps of translating the picture of the labels associated to the regions into a description in terms of a contour element chain in which the elements are defined by means of their movements through successive basic cells, tracking inside each successive cell each contour from its initial contour point, previously extracted, to its end by storing chain symbols corresponding both to input, internal and output contour elements of said cell and to priorities between possible multiple outputs elements, and repeating these steps up to the end of each successive contour segment of the concerned partition. The information corresponding in each cell to the initial point of each contour segment and to the associated chain of movements between that initial point and the initial one of the following cell is finally coded.
