    摘要: Exhaust gas cleaner system for an automotive internal combustion engine includes an air introduction pipe 8 for introducing secondary air, heated initially by a heater 23, to the catalytic converter unit 7 mounted on the exhaust pipe 3. The ignition timings of the engine is retarded at least during the time when the secondary air is heated by the heater 23. Preferably, the number of ignition timings are counted by a counter modulo 5, for example, in the case of a four-cylinder engine, and the ignition timings are retarded when the counter content is 3 or 4, such that the ignition timings of the cylinders are retarded intermittently. Alternatively, the retardation of the ignition timings may be terminated before the introduction of the heated secondary air is terminated.Where two first and second catalytic converter units 7a and 7b are provided, secondary air distributed by a change-over valve 10a is heated separately by heaters 23b and 23c.To reduce the burden imposed on the engine, the generation of power by the AC generator 28 may be suspended when either the flow control valve 10b or the heater 23 is operated.

A crank angle sensor generates a crank angle signal SGT in synchronization with the rotation of a crankshaft so as to supply the fuel in a fuel tank to an injector installed in a combustion chamber of each engine cylinder. A cam angle sensor generates the cam angle signal SGC in synchronization with the rotation of a camshaft. A high pressure pump has a suction stroke and a discharge stroke synchronized with the rotation of the camshaft and supplies the fuel to the injector. An ECU changes an effective stroke related to an exhaust stroke of the pump based on the cam angle signal SGC.

Presence/absence of a torque demand (xtq) is estimated upon starting of a lock pin release control to thereby alter a change rate (&bgr;) of a target phase angle in dependence on presence/absence of the torque demand (xtq). A target fuel pressure is computed, and a pump discharge quantity is computed as a feed forward quantity in accordance with an amount of change in the target fuel pressure. A determination is made as to whether or not the feed forward quantity is zero, and when the feed forward quantity is zero, a feedback correction quantity is computed based on the target fuel pressure and the actual fuel pressure, and feedback control is performed. In the case where the feed forward quantity is not zero, the computation of the feedback correction quantity is stopped and the feed forward control is continued.

    摘要: There is disclosed a valve timing controller having excellent response and used with an internal combustion engine. The controller performs a corrective control operation according to the oil pressure control characteristics of the actually mounted valve. The valve timing controller comprises an intake cam, an exhaust cam, an actuator for varying the phase of rotation of one of the cams relative to the crankshaft of the engine, an oil pressure control valve for applying oil pressure on the actuator, and a control means for controlling the valve timing by controlling the oil pressure output from the oil pressure control valve. The oil pressure output is controlled by controlling the current through the solenoid in the oil pressure control valve. The two cams are driven by the crankshaft of the engine. The intake cam opens and closes the intake valve. The exhaust cam opens and closes the exhaust valve. The control means detects the currents supplied into the solenoid to activate the actuator in different operating conditions of the engine. The characteristics of the oil pressure control valve are detected from the difference in the current value under these different operating conditions. An amount of control current is determined.
