    摘要: The invention provides a method and system for secure data transfer and dynamic definition of trustworthiness of various entities by multiple parties in a hierarchy tree or graph structure. The invention uses digital certificates. Each party in the business hierarchy can control and define various trust information including trustworthiness and delegation authority for the entities it deals with. The ability of a party to redefine or add trust information is controlled by the parties with which it has a relationship that are above it in the hierarchy. Trust vectors and delegation vectors are used to store this information. Each party can add trusted third parties to a security object without compromising the integrity of security objects already issued. A sequence of security objects including digital certificates can be modified without compromising the original digital certificates in those security objects.

    摘要: A system provides for tracking the behavior of television viewers and Internet browsers while protecting the privacy of the user. The level of privacy is under control of the user. In one embodiment, an arbitrary anonymous identifier is assigned to the user. The selection of a new arbitrary anonymous identifier is under the control of the user. In a second embodiment, a private anonymous identifier is based on a user entered password. The user history data is stored on a history server using the private anonymous identifier. An authentication server is provided to validate the private anonymous identifier before transferring the user history data to the history server.

    摘要: A comprehensive mechanism is provided for broadcasting and accessing multiple audio sources in connection with the viewing of a television program. Audio is collected through the use of standard audio capture techniques. Next, the audio is distributed by either of in-band via broadcast or out-of-band techniques. In-band audio is preferably provided via an MPEG stream associated with the current television program. Out-of-band (OOB) audio can be broadcast as well, although it is preferable to select which channel is distributed upstream first, rather than broadcast all channels downstream and consume bandwidth for unselected audio. The viewer operates a set top box to select the appropriate audio channel(s) for reproduction.

    摘要: Controlling the admission of interactive television iTV applications to an iTV application distribution system is accomplished through the use of iTV application profiles that enumerate sets of allowed functions and behaviors for the iTV applications within the distribution system. In general, the profiles comprise filters that enable various functions within the distribution system, and may be applied to the iTV applications according to any of a number of bases. The distribution system includes an interface or console adapted to permit a system operator to create the application profiles and establish rules for attaching the profiles to the iTV applications, and an application profile engine configured to automatically validate the iTV applications against the profiles according to those rules.
