Abstract: A vehicle brake system (1) includes a first control device (10) and a second control device (11) that respectively include a master controller (30), a first sub-controller (40), and a second sub-controller (41) that are connected to one another. Each of the master controller (30), the first sub-controller (40), and the second sub-controller (41) includes a braking force calculation unit that calculates braking force of electric brakes (16a to 16d), and a determination unit that compares braking force calculation results of the controllers to determine whether itself is normal. The determination unit includes an output block section that blocks, when the determination unit determines that any one of the controllers is not normal, an output of the controller that is determined to be not normal.

Abstract: A fail-safety valve unit of an electronically controllable pneumatic brake system for a vehicle is disclosed. The unit includes a main port for providing a first pressure, a failsafe brake port, and a failsafe brake valve. The brake valve is controllable by a control unit. The brake valve pneumatically connects the main port and the failsafe brake port when in an open position to output a failsafe brake pressure at the failsafe brake port. In the event of a fault, an electrical failure, and/or a diagnostic event of the control unit, the brake valve is in the open position and a failsafe braking operation of the vehicle is initiated through a failsafe brake pressure at the failsafe brake port by the brake system. The main port is pneumatically connected to a parking brake function to receive an output parking brake pressure or a pressure derived therefrom, as the first pressure.

Abstract: A method of operating a brake redundancy device including a main braking controller and a backup braking controller, includes: confirming whether or not a command signal for deceleration of the vehicle has been received, by the backup braking controller; executing a front-wheel braking mode by the backup braking controller when the command signal has been received; determining whether or not an allowable condition for providing the hydraulic pressure to wheel cylinders of rear wheels has been satisfied; and executing a rear-wheel braking mode through a cooperative control of the main braking controller and the backup braking controller when the allowable condition has been satisfied, wherein in the executing of the rear-wheel braking mode, the hydraulic pressure is provided from the backup braking controller to a portion of the main braking controller.

Abstract: A method includes steps for controlling a pneumatic braking system of a trailer vehicle which is connected to a tow vehicle equipped with a hydraulic or pneumatic braking system. At the start of an actuation of the foot brake valve, an electrical switch is closed or opened, and a switching signal is transmitted to an electronic control unit as a braking start signal for an incipient braking process. A brake value sensor detects a brake value representative of the drivers current deceleration request and transmits the brake value to the electronic control unit as a brake value signal. The brake value sensor is used for determining the incipient braking process, and a backup valve is only deactivated by switching a redundancy valve from an open position to a blocking position if the brake value signal detected by the brake value sensor has reached or exceeded a predefined minimum signal value.
