Abstract: An arrangement for blocking/unblocking a fluid flow comprises: a component delimiting a fluid passage to conduct a fluid from a high pressure side to a low pressure side; a bursting disk at least indirectly attached to the component and separating the high and low pressure sides to close the fluid passage; a support element on the low pressure side, which supports the bursting disk to withstand a fluid pressure on the high pressure side that exceeds a nominal bursting pressure of the bursting disk but that is lower than a maximum pressure; and a controllable actuator actuatable for unblocking the fluid passage. To unblock the fluid passage, the actuator is arranged to destroy or damage the support element such that a fluid pressure on the high pressure side of the bursting disk exceeding the nominal bursting pressure causes the bursting disk to burst.

Abstract: A valve assembly is disclosed that has a valve housing including a first axial end, a cap, a second axial end, and an airflow pathway extending from the first axial end towards the second axial end. The cap is positioned towards the second axial end. The valve housing includes an environmental opening configured for fluid communication with an outside environment, an enclosure opening towards the first axial end configured for fluid communication with an interior of an enclosure, and a film having an expansion diameter disposed in the valve housing laterally across the airflow pathway. The cap has an inner lateral surface and a piercing protrusion (having a piercing tip) extending from the inner lateral surface towards the first axial end. An axial distance is defined between the film and the inner lateral surface. A ratio of the axial distance to the film expansion diameter is at least 0.14.

Abstract: A pressure relief apparatus is disclosed herein. The pressure relief apparatus comprises a primary conduit for transporting fluid in a given direction. The pressure relief apparatus also includes a secondary conduit intersecting the primary conduit at an angle such that the secondary conduit extends from away from the primary conduit in a direction opposite of the given direction of the transported fluid in the primary conduit. Abstract: An actuating structure of battery safety valve includes an end plate, a safety valve, a positive-terminal conductive plate, a negative-terminal conductive plate, a ventilate plate and an actuating plate. A positive terminal and a negative terminal penetrate through the end plate and the safety valve. Abstract: Safety valves accurately control closure and opening of fluid passage through the valve. Valves include a barrier that blocks the fluid until removal only by a high-energy projectile. Following removal and opening, the barrier or the projectile can flow through the valve, which remains open. Bullets, pneumatic pistons, shot, coilgun pellets and any other forceful projectile may impact and remove the barrier. The projectile is actuated with any type of chemical reaction, firing pin, spring release, accelerating circuit, ignition circuit. Catchers in the valve envelop or otherwise retain the projectile or barrier pieces and enter the fluid flow of the opened valve without blocking it. Disruptable barriers include strong but breakable glass plates, thin steel sheets, a rotatable door and other barriers that can withstand potentially over 10,000 psi of fluid pressure while closing the valve. Valves can use circuits to both monitor valve open/closed status and initiate firing the projectile.

Abstract: A well choke, and an actuation mechanism for the well choke are described. The actuation mechanism includes a linearly translating drive mechanism which is coupled to a valve member drive assembly through a fluid coupling which facilitates a change in the overall length of the actuation mechanism. Fluid in the fluid coupling can be released in response to fluid pressure exerted on the valve member when it is proximate a valve seat of the choke, to achieve this change in length. In some embodiments, the fluid coupling will provide a retained fluid column and the valve member drive assembly will include a piston with in the fluid coupling which is movable from a fully extended to a compressed, by the release of fluid from the coupling in response to pressure in the chamber reaching a threshold level.
