摘要： A personalized assistance system maintains a first database having a contact list for the user including at least one contact name and a corresponding contact number. A telephone identification code uniquely associated with the telephone said identification code is transmitted to the system when the user calls. A customer service representative terminal is coupled to the database and the telephone hardware. The telephone identification code prompts automatic retrieval of the contact list to the customer service representative terminal in response to processing of the identification code. The customer service representative terminal searches the contact list in response to a user query to locate a designated contact from the user's contact list and causes the telephony hardware to connect the telephone with the contact number corresponding to the designated contact. The system provides a multimedia message to the user while the user is connected with the personalized assistance system.

At a monitoring location for monitoring at least one remote location having at least one monitoring device, selected scrutiny information from one of the monitoring devices at the remote location is received, the selected scrutiny information including video data intended for display to a human and representing the remote location being monitored, and the received video data is displayed. The remote location also has at least one manually operated device for indicating that a special situation has been sensed, and the selected scrutiny information is sent to the monitoring location in response to actuation of the manually operated device.

The sender can provide the request to the intermediate party via electronic mail. The request includes the information to initiate the interactive telephony session with the customer as well as the information to conduct that session. In one embodiment, the information to conduct the interactive telephony session includes a URL that provides an application in VoiceXML (Voice Extensible Markup Language). The intermediate party can initiate and conduct the session at the appropriate time and provide the sender with a status regarding the session. During the session, the customer can respond with voice or DTMF inputs to various prompts, thereby proceeding with a transaction and/or providing valuable feedback to the sender.

摘要： A system and method for initiating calls via electronic calendar is disclosed. A call list is associated by a user to a particular time and day within the electronic calendar. When the particular day and time arrives, the call list is forwarded to a service which executes the call list, and subsequently contacts the members of the call list. The system may initially query the callees through a text messaging system to determine which callees are present, and then establish a telephone connection based on responses to the queries. Once a connection is established, the user and the members of the list are linked to a conference bridge.

A first image from one of the monitoring devices is recorded, and then compared with a second image from the same monitoring device. The video recorder may be located at either the monitoring location or the remote location. In some cases, the first and second video images are sent from the remote location to the monitoring location via a temporary communication channel that has at least one portion that is provided by an online computer service.
