Abstract:
An image forming apparatus and a method thereof are disclosed. The image forming apparatus comprises: a first interface unit, which includes a first port and a second port, respectively used for establishing a first channel and a second channel between the image forming apparatus and a driving device of the image forming apparatus; an imaging controller, used for receiving data from the first channel as page data to be imaged, and acquiring data from the second channel as virtual data; and a timer, used for calculating a first duration from a last time when the image forming apparatus receives either page data from the first channel or virtual data from the second channel, whichever comes later, wherein when the first duration reaches a first predetermined duration, the imaging controller performs timeout handling for ceasing a present imaging job. The image forming apparatus can save resources and improve user friendliness.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides methods and apparatus for delivering documents. A web based application server transmits a document to a distribution management system. The distribution management system then translates the document if necessary (e.g., from a spreadsheet to a PDF and a fax) and sends the translated document to one or more destinations such as email inboxes, printers, and fax machines. For fax deliveries, the distribution management system sends the document to a particular client device that is associated with the fax destination. For example, the client device that actually transmits the fax may reside at a company, and the fax machine may be at a customer of that company. In this manner, fax transmissions appear to come from the correct source (not the distribution management system), and transmission charges associated with the fax are incurred by the appropriate company (not the company associated with the distribution management system).
Abstract:
A method and system are provided for forwarding telephone calls, facsimile transmissions and electronic messages to a single forwarding telephone number. The telephone calls, fax transmissions and electronic messages are first forwarded to a central forwarding repository by the forwarding party where the fax transmissions, and messages are converted to audio formats. Forwarded telephone calls and audio formatted versions of the fax transmissions and electronic messages are then forwarded directly to a designated forwarding number. If the forwarding party answers at the forwarding number, she will receive forwarded calls, and the audio formatted versions of fax transmissions and electronic messages will be played to her over her telephone. If the forwarding party does not answer the forwarded call, she subsequently may retrieve saved telephone calls, saved telephone messages and saved audio versions of fax transmissions and electronic messages from the central forwarding repository.
Abstract:
An image-reading lens includes front-group and rear-group lens systems which are arranged on an object side and an image side, respectively. The front-group lens system includes equal to or less than 5 lenses which include at least one positive lens and at least one negative lens, and the rear-group lens system includes one negative lens. An angle of view of an entire system of the image-reading lens is equal to or more than 56°. The front-group and rear-group lens systems are structured such that with respect to a change in a distance between the front-group and rear-group lens systems, a change in a focal length of the entire system of the image-reading lens is small, and a change in an image plane is large, and by adjusting the distance between the front-group and rear-group lens systems, a required lens performance is obtained.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus includes an attribute image generation part that analyzes image data of an original image and generates image data of an attribute image for each pixel, the attribute image having a first attribute value, a compression image generation part that generates image data of a first compression image that includes a compression image of the first part image and image data of a second compression image, and a format part that generates, based on the image data of the attribute image, image data that shows the first attribute value for each pixel as selection data being used to select a pixel value of each pixel, and generates data in a multilayer data format that includes the selection data, the image data of the first compression image and the image data of the second compression image.
Abstract:
This disclosure is directed to systems and methods for the delivery and maintenance of faxes where the faxes may remain at a faxing system for a minimal amount of time. The faxing system may send a queued fax to a connector responsive to a request from the connector to pull or retrieve a fax. The connector is configured to send a release notification to the faxing system after the fax is received. The faxing system is configured to delete the queued fax as soon as confirmation of the delivery of the fax can be determined or when an expiration time has elapsed.
Abstract:
A scanning optical device includes a light source for emitting laser light, a rotatable polygonal mirror for deflecting the laser light emitted from the light source, a detecting portion for outputting a detection signal on the basis of incidence of the laser light deflected by the rotatable polygonal mirror on a light receiving surface, and an outputting portion for outputting a driving signal for driving the light source on the basis of output timing of the detection signal and an output period in which the detection signal is outputted. The laser light is emitted depending on an image signal inputted at timing based on output timing of the driving signal. When the output period is longer than a first period, the outputting portion outputs the driving signal on the basis of the output timing of the detection signal and a fixed second period.
Abstract:
The disclosed embodiments provide for checking documents for security compliance when the documents are printed, scanned, or copied. A security status is determined based on security indicators within a document's content. Security indicators can be located within a document's text, figures, watermarks, security marks, and invisible marks. Security indicators can be found by comparing a document's content to a set of stored indicator descriptions. The indicators found are used to determine a document score and security responses are triggered based on the document score.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes: an operation unit; a setting unit configured to set one of a plurality of operation modes, in which different processing is executed for a document, in accordance with an operation content of the operation unit; a reading unit configured to read the document in response to a reading execution request from the operation unit; and a control unit configured to control the reading unit whether or not to execute a reading preparation operation before the reading execution request is made depending on the set operation modes set by the setting unit.
Abstract:
Common portions of applications are extracted as common system service. A platform is formed by the common system service and a general purpose OS. A printer application, a copy application, and various applications are mounted on the platform. As a result, each software (application) corresponding to a printer, a copier, a facsimile device, and so on can be developed efficiently and the productivity of the apparatus as a whole can be improved.
