Abstract:
Melt blended HDPE compositions for single and dual wall corrugated HDPE pipe and associated fabricated and molded fittings and accessories with enhanced physical properties and processing and environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) characteristics and associated blend methods are disclosed in which virgin or recycled homopolymer and/or copolymer HDPE resin components are blended. The invention discloses methods for 1) selecting and determining the relative weight fractions of the HDPE blending components that provide specific physical properties and processability of HDPE blended compositions associated with density and melt index respectively and specific values of environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) associated with specific molecular parameters and 2) for determining from molecular parameters, the ESCR of linear polyethylene resins and blended compositions within a class having similar densities. The invention reduces the cost of raw materials to corrugated HDPE pipe manufacturers by enabling the use of virgin prime commodity HDPE resins and/or wide and off specification prime HDPE resins in place of single stream specialty HDPE resins and favorably impacts the environment by providing the capability of utilizing recycled HDPE resins in place of prime HDPE resins in the manufacture of corrugated HDPE pipe.
Abstract:
This invention relates generally to crystalline polypropylene polymers and methods for their production. Specifically, this invention relates to crystalline polypropylene polymer compositions comprising both propylene homopolymers and propylene copolymers. The compositions are prepared using metallocene catalyst systems comprising at least two metallocenes in a polymerization process that involves the sequential or parallel polymerization of propylene homopolymers and copolymers using propylene with a small amount of comonomer, preferably ethylene. The resulting polymers are excellent for use in the production of biaxially oriented films. Films prepared with these propylene polymers have a significantly broader processability range and can be evenly stretched at lower temperature compared to films prepared from traditional polypropylene polymers.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a stretched film excellent in low-temperature heat sealability after corona treatment as well as that before corona treatment and/or in heat shrinkability, the stretched film being comprised of a layer comprising a copolymer of propylene with null-olefin and/or ethylene such that in measurement of a DSC curve the amount of the heat absorbed in the temperature range of from Tnull10 (null C.) to Tnull10 (null C.) accounts for from 15 to 36% of the amount of the heat absorbed in the temperature range of from 53 to 170null C., wherein T denotes a temperature (null C.) at which a maximum endothermic peak appears in the DSC curve.

Melt blended HDPE compositions for single and dual wall corrugated HDPE pipe and associated fabricated and molded fittings and accessories having a density in the range of 0.951 to 0.954 grams per cubic centimeter, values of melt flow index according to ASTM D1238 in the range of about 0.15 to 0.35 with enhanced physical properties, process and environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) characteristics and associated blend methods are disclosed in which virgin or recycled homopolymer and/or copolymer HDPE resin components are blended. The invention discloses a method selecting and determining the relative weight fractions of the HDPE blending components that provides specific physical properties and processability of HDPE blended compositions associated with density and melt index respectively and specific values of environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) associated with specific molecular parameters. The principal benefits of this invention include cost reduction of raw materials to the corrugated HDPE pipe manufacturers by use of virgin prime commodity HDPE resins and/or wide and off specification prime HDPE resins in place of single stream specialty HDPE resins and favorable impact on the environment by providing the capability of utilizing billions of pounds of recycled HDPE resins in place of prime HDPE resins in the manufacture of corrugated HDPE pipe.

The acrylic resin film laminate film have little white turbidity even if being heated in molding and maintains excellent design properties, and the injection molded article having the acrylic resin film on its surface is excellent in design properties such as color depth.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an olefinic thermoplastic elastomer composition obtainable by dynamically heat treating 5 to 50 parts by weight of a polypropylene resin (A) and 50 to 95 parts by weight of an null-olefinic copolymer (B) having a Mooney viscosity ML1null4 (100null C.) of 60 to 250 in the absence of a crosslinking agent. The olefinic thermoplastic elastomer composition is characterized in that the glass transition temperature (Tg) in dynamic visco-elasticity measurement derived from the polypropylene resin (A) is lower than that of the polypropylene resin (A) itself and that the null-olefinic copolymer (B) is at least one selected from the following (b-1) and (b-2): (b-1) ethylene-null-olefinic copolymers which have an ethylene content of 51 to 60 mol % to the total amount of the ethylene-null-olefinic copolymer-constituting ethylene and null-olefin other than ethylene, (b-2) propylene-null-olefini ccopolymers which have a propylene content of 60 to 90 mol % to the total amount of the ethylene-null-olefinic copolymer-constituting propylene and null-olefin other than propylene.

Abstract:
Maghnia or Mostaganem bentonites, are activated by contacting the Maghnia or Mostaganem bentonite with an acid solution of selected concentration and then drying the Maghnia or Mostaganem bentonite to form an activated bentonite catalyst. This activated bentonite catalyst may be used to polymerize a vinyl, acrylic, cyclic ether, aldehyde, lactone or olefin monomer. In a further embodiment, a perflourinated amine or diamine is synthesized by contacting a Maghnia or Mostaganem bentonite with an acid solution of selected concentration, drying the Maghnia or Mostaganem bentonite, and absorbing a secondary amine with the Maghnia or Mostaganem bentonite to form a perflouroamide iodide salt. The perflouramide idodide salt can then be extracted with a polar solvent and neutralized by the use of a basic solution.
