    摘要: A thermal wall system for slowing heat transfer through walls. The system includes horizontal top and bottom tracks, horizontal top and bottom plates, and vertical studs mounted to and extending between the top and bottom plates. The top tracks and plates have flanges that extend downward. The bottom tracks and plates have flanges that extend upward. The width of the plates fits within the width of the tracks. Top and bottom tracks and plates are respectively nested along their webs and one flange to form a longitudinal opening between their respective opposing flanges. Rigid insulation may be disposed in the longitudinal opening. Thermal framing components may also be provided, extending between the top and bottom plates, to support vertical edges of insulation sheets. Thermal end caps may be used to treat the terminal edges of insulation.

    摘要: An improved insulation package is provided that is particularly suitable for use on vehicles, such as aircraft. The insulation package includes a liquid impenetrable cover over thermal or acoustical insulation material. In order to facilitate mounting of the insulation package, the cover includes at least one sealed region that can be penetrated with a hole without compromising the waterproofness of the package. The sealed region can be provided along the edge of the insulation material, such as by way of a tab, or can be provided anywhere on the face of the insulation by forming suitable holes in the insulation. Elongated sealed regions can also be provided so as to allow for bending or slitting of the packaged insulation.

    摘要: Thermally insulative sleeves include a seamless, hollow, flexibly resilient inner tubular member woven of strand material including at least one metal wire strand, a separate, integral, at least essentially unbroken, metal surface member applied over the inner tubular member extending along and at least essentially completely surrounding the inner tubular member and a flexible outer cover also woven of strand material extending along and completely around the inner tubular member and metal surfaced member securing the metal surface member with the inner tubular member and offering some degree of protection. The inner tubular member may be knit from wire or from a combination of wire and glass fiber yarn, the latter providing some thermal insulative protection. The metal surfaced member may be foil or some other metal covered composite or laminate material sufficiently thin and pliable so as to be deformable by the inner member. The flexible outer mender is preferably wire strand continuously knitted around the other two members. Sleeves provide reflective and, with a glass fiber inner tubular member, insulative thermal protection.

The object is to provide a continuous insulating material ply (17) of a predetermined thickness. A primary ply (14) of surplus thickness is first sawn out of an insulating material roll (1) by rotating the insulating wool roll against the edge of a band saw, and this primary ply (14) is fed to another ply-cutting saw (16) which saws the primary ply into the final ply (17) with the predetermined thickness. The surplus from the primary ply (14) is collected on a drum (19) provided in connection with the ply-cutting saw (16) to form an intermediate storage. When the insulating material (roll) run out, the sawing of the final ply (17) is continued from the intermediate storage without interruption until the leading edge of a new opened insulating material roll (1) reaches the ply-cutting saw (16).

    摘要: A combination heat shield/gasket is disposed between abutting components in a reciprocating compressor. The heat shield/gasket includes strategically located protuberances, at locations where the components do not directly abut, the tips of which contact one of the components causing the heat shield/gasket to locally deflect away from the contacted component. The deflection of the heat shield/gasket at such non-abutting locations causes a dead space to be created between the component contacted by the tip of the protuberance and the heat shield/gasket. The dead space so created is a barrier to the transfer of heat, as is the heat shield/gasket itself, from the component contacted by the protruberances to the area on the side of the heat shield/gasket opposite that side on which the dead space is created.
