摘要: A design and construction method reduces the amount of structural material (e.g., steel) required when applying the corrosion allowance to the design of floating offshore structures. The (hull) structural elements involved are typically flat or curved panels where at least one side is wet, e.g.; inside a ballast tank or exposed to seawater. The method minimizes the area to which the largest corrosion allowance is applied. One principle of this method is to have a maximum of one wet side for each hull watertight plating element. The stiffening of this hull structural element is applied to the dry side, i.e., the side that requires the lesser amount of corrosion allowance. Practice of the method typically results in a hull design wherein ballast tanks do not share a common structural element with either another ballast tank or the hull external shell.

摘要: The present invention provides a shell plating developing method leading to reduction of the amount of machining and improvement of the efficiency in manufacturing the shell plating. In the shell plating developing method according to the invention, a shell plating lattice system is constituted, and the directions in which the curvature of a shell plating P at each lattice point of the shell plating lattice system is maximum and minimum are determined (s102). Also, lines extending in the directions in which the absolute value of the curvature is large and small are determined as a first connection line L1 and a second connection line L2 (s104). The first connection line L1 is developed as a straight line on a flat plate P′ while the length of the first connection line L1 is maintained. And the second connection line L2 is developed as a line perpendicular to the straight line on a flat plate P″ in such a way that the integrated value of the amount of machining corresponding to the extension ratio or the shrinkage ratio of the second connection line L2 is minimum.

摘要: A structure consists of an intermediate platform surmounted by at least one chamber of spherical or partially spherical form occupying a relatively major portion of the platform upper surface, and a plurality of smaller chambers on the underside of the platform. The preferred construction of the chamber walls is single panel monocoque. When used as a boat, the lower chambers may be buoyancy chambers. A string of such boats are well adapted for ocean-going transportation. The structure may be insulated and reinforced by the application of an interior layer of polycarbonate foam. Three or more underside chambers in mutually spaced apart relation constitute flotation chambers on which the vessel is supported. The chambers provides efficient, stable buoyancy, and promote effective streamlining for ease of movement over the water. Smaller versions may form play houses; miniature versions may serve as play toys.

摘要: A dispensing bucket apparatus that removably connects to a loader vehicle. The apparatus is a bucket that is adapted to receive and hold a flowable material and has an exit opening in its front end that is selectively opened and closed by a gate. The position of the gate may be controlled by the user from within the loader vehicle to control the flow and flow rate of the flowable material from the bucket. An alternate bucket design uses a manual latch to release the gate to an opened position. The side walls of the bucket converge toward the front of the bucket and form a funnel that directs the flowable material to the exit opening. The construction of the apparatus is such that the user can view the pour at all times and, thereby, reduce spillage and waste.
