Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention, an output current limit circuit for protecting a power MOS output device of an integrated circuit from an excessive drain current comprises a power MOS device 110, a means 30 to sense a predetermined trigger current, and a means 20 to reduce a gate-source voltage on MOS output device 110 to a predetermined approximately fixed value. A drain current I.sub.D flows through power MOS device 110 from output terminal 102 in response to the gate-source voltage. A short circuit condition may allow an excessive amount of drain current I.sub.D to flow through output terminal 102. The gate-source voltage is reduced in response to sensing the trigger current. Reducing the gate-source voltage raises a drain-source resistance of MOS device 110 and reduces drain current I.sub.D so that MOS device 110 is not damaged by the short circuit condition.

Abstract:
A slope control circuit having a plurality of resistive elements connected in parallel, each of the resistive elements including a control element for causing the associated resistive elements to be one of electrically conductive or electrically nonconductive, a delay circuit having a plurality of delay components coupled together in series, each of the delay components having a predetermined delay, the junction of each different adjacent pair of the delay components being coupled to the control element of a different one of the resistive elements and a load circuit coupled across the plurality of resistive elements. The circuit can further include a delay adjust circuit for adjusting the delay of each of the delay components, either initially or on-line. The resistance of each of the resistive elements can be the same or different. The plurality of resistive elements and the delay components are all disposed on a single semiconductor chip.
Abstract:
An integrated power device comprises a power transistor (26) and a plurality of sense transistors (38), (40), (42), (44), and (46). Sense transistors (38), (40), (42), and (44) are constructed around the periphery of the active area occupied by power transistor (26). Sense transistor (46) is located within the interior of the active area occupied by power transistor (26) and contact is made to the necessary source region (64) of transistor (46) using a second level of metal interconnect to form a source contact (74).
Abstract:
A bandgap reference circuit 30 includes a current generation circuit 32, a voltage generation circuit 34 connected to current generation circuit 32, and a compensation circuit connected to current generation circuit 32 and voltage generation circuit 34. Current generation circuit 32 sources a current to voltage generation circuit 34 which translates the current into a voltage. Compensation circuit 36 monitors current generation circuit 32 and provides a supplemental current to voltage generation circuit 34. Voltage generation circuit 34 receives the supplemental current and translates it into a supplemental voltage. The summation of the voltage produced by the current received by current generation circuit 32 and the supplemental voltage produced by the supplemental current received by compensation circuit 36 produces a stable reference voltage.
Abstract:
A frame assembly for affording mechanical support and for carrying electrical conduction paths for connection to circuitry of a machine. The frame assembly includes members comprising pultrusions having an insulating body and reinforcing fibers within the insulating body, and has grooves in surface portions along an elongated dimension with conductors in the grooves. The conductors provide electrical conduction paths that are connectable to circuitry of the machine. The pultrusion may be a thermal setting polymer, for example, selected from the group consisting essentially of polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxies, and may be reinforced with fiberglass. The frame member can also have a hollow interior portion within which conductors are arranged to conduct AC power to the circuitry of the machine, and the conductors on the exterior surface of the frame member can be arranged to conduct IIOC bus signals. When a plurality of the frame members are connected together to form a frame assembly, corresponding conductors of each are interconnected to facilitate supplying and directing the electrical signals to the machine. The connections can be made to and among the electrical conductors carried by the pultrusions by blocks that are attachable to the pultrusions.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for distributing operating program data stored in a common memory area of a digital telephone system, to a plurality of digital telephone system controllers. The method includes transmitting the operating program data from the common memory via a control/data bus to remotely located digital facility test card. The digital facility test card receives and stores a load image of the operating program in random access memory (RAM). A PCM network connection is established from the digital facility test card to each of the plurality of digital telephone controllers through the digital telephone system. The stored load image from the digital facility test card RAM is then transmitted to each of the digital telephone system controllers via the PCM network connection.
Abstract:
An automated system assists a user in locating and purchasing goods or services sold by a plurality of vendors. The system includes a programmed computer which is linked to a database. The database contains information about a large number of different products and/or services, arranged in various categories. For each product or service, the database contains information on price, vendor, specifications and/or availability. In operating the system, the user first indicates the general type of product or service desired. The system responds by displaying a template giving specifications for the type of product or service selected. The user then fills in one or more blank spaces in the template, to tell the system the minimum desired specifications for the product or service. The computer then searches the database to retrieve all products or services, within the product or service category selected, having the specifications required by the user. The system display such products or services to the user, who can request more detailed information about a particular product or service, or information on vendors and prices. The user can then select one or more items for immediate purchase, and the system automatically transmits the order to the appropriate vendor.
