Abstract: A video decoding method according to an embodiment of the present invention may include determining a type of a filter to be applied to a first-layer picture which a second-layer picture as a decoding target refers to; determining a filtering target of the first-layer picture to which the filter is applied; filtering the filtering target based on the type of the filter; and adding the filtered first-layer picture to a second-layer reference picture list. Accordingly, the video decoding method and an apparatus using the same may reduce a prediction error in an upper layer and enhance encoding efficiency.

Abstract: Provided is a video encoding apparatus, including a signal separator to separate a differential image block into a first domain and a second domain, based on a boundary line included in the differential image block, the differential image block indicating a difference between an original image and a prediction image with respect to the original image, a transform encoder to perform a transform encoding with respect to the first domain using a discrete cosine transform (DCT), a quantization unit to quantize an output of the transform encoding unit in a frequency domain, a space domain quantization unit to quantize the second domain in a space domain, and an entropy encoder to perform an entropy encoding using outputs of the quantization unit and the space domain quantization unit.

Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, a video information encoding method comprises: a step of predicting information of the current coding unit to generate prediction information; and a step of determining whether the information of the current coding unit coincides with the prediction information. If the information of the current coding unit coincides with the prediction information, a flag indicating that the information of the current coding unit coincides with the prediction information is encoded and transmitted. If the information of the current coding unit does not coincide with the prediction information, a flag indicating that the information of the current coding unit does not coincide with the prediction information is encoded and transmitted and the information of the current coding unit is encoded and transmitted. In the step of generating prediction information, the prediction information may be generated using the information on the coding unit adjacent to the current coding unit.

Abstract: The present invention is related to a method for moving the position of a base view from an arbitrary GOP (Group Of Pictures) start position to implement an efficient encoding structure in multi-view video encoding. The existing multi-view video encoding method exhibits low encoding efficiency when correlation between the base view and a dependent view is low, since the base view is assumed to be fixed. Moreover, in case the view in a live broadcasting program desired by a producer changes from the base view to another, the user has to consume more bit streams and decoder complexity than those consumed when decoding is performed with respect to the base view. Therefore, to alleviate the drawbacks of the existing multi-view video encoding method, the present invention provides a method for designing syntax elements by which the base view can be moved, thereby supporting an efficient encoding structure.

Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for performing intra-prediction using an adaptive filter. The method for performing intra-prediction includes the steps of: determining whether or not to apply a first filter for a reference pixel value on the basis of information of a neighboring block of a current block; applying the first filter for the reference pixel value when it is determined to apply the first filter; performing intra-prediction on the current block on the basis of the reference pixel value; determining whether or not to apply a second filter for a prediction value according to each prediction mode of the current block, which is predicted by the intra-prediction performance on the basis of the information of the neighboring block; and applying the second filter for the prediction value according to each prediction mode of the current block when it is determined to apply the second filter.

Abstract: According to the present invention, an image encoding apparatus comprises: a motion prediction unit which derives motion information on a current block in the form of the motion information including L0 motion information and L1 motion information; a motion compensation unit which performs a motion compensation for the current block on the basis of at least one of the L0 motion information and L1 motion information so as to generate a prediction block corresponding to the current block; and a restoration block generating unit which generates a restoration block corresponding to the current block based on the prediction block. According to the present invention, image encoding efficiency can be improved.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for encoding and decoding an image by skip encoding. The image-encoding method by skip encoding, which performs intra-prediction, comprises: performing a filtering operation on the signal which is reconstructed prior to an encoding object signal in an encoding object image; using the filtered reconstructed signal to generate a prediction signal for the encoding object signal; setting the generated prediction signal as a reconstruction signal for the encoding object signal; and not encoding the residual signal which can be generated on the basis of the difference between the encoding object signal and the prediction signal, thereby performing skip encoding on the encoding object signal.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for setting a reference picture index of a temporal merging candidate. An inter-picture prediction method using a temporal merging candidate can include the steps of: determining a reference picture index for a current block; and inducing a temporal merging candidate block of the current block and calculating a temporal merging candidate from the temporal merging candidate block, wherein the reference picture index of the temporal merging candidate can be calculated regardless of whether a block other than the current block is decoded. Accordingly, a video processing speed can be increased and video processing complexity can be reduced.
