    Abstract: A memory addressing method is suitable for systems performing data compression and/or expansion such as audio and/or video systems having a variable speed data reproduction capability. According to an exemplary embodiment, a method for processing a signal such as an audio or video signal in a signal reproduction device begins by receiving the signal. The received signal is processed in dependence upon a mode of operation of the signal reproduction device representing a speed at which the received signal is to be reproduced by the signal reproduction device. The received signal is speed converted and then stored in a memory of the signal reproduction device when the signal reproduction device is in a first mode of operation. The received signal is stored in the memory of the signal reproduction device without being speed converted when the signal reproduction device is in a second mode of operation. According to an embodiment, the first mode of operation represents that the received signal will be reproduced by the signal reproduction device at a speed greater than an input speed corresponding to the received signal. The second mode of operation represents that the received signal will be reproduced by the signal reproduction device at a speed less than or equal to an input speed corresponding to the received signal.

    Abstract: An information system includes a server that creates an information reservoir with data units for a user of a mobile communication device based on a unique user profile of the user of the mobile communication device. The server creates the unique user profile based on interaction of the user with the mobile communication device or with another computing system. The server transfers the information reservoir to the mobile communication device and each time the user requests data from a web site, the server scans it to find key terms. If the server finds key term(s) in the data, it uses a tagging rule to mark the key term(s) and, then, it transfers the data with the marked term(s) to the mobile communication device. The user may, then, select a marked key term to call/display a data unit that is locally stored on the mobile communication device. The server may also mark terms in data units and a data unit stored on the mobile communication device may be called using a key term that is marked in another data unit.

The relayed language interpretation permits a caller to communicate with a third party. A language interpretation call is received from a caller at a language interpretation provider. A caller language corresponding to a language spoken of the caller is determined. A first interpreter that speaks the caller language and a base language is engaged to the language interpretation call. An indication from the caller that the caller needs interpretation between the caller language and a third-party language is received. The first interpreter is permitted to engage a second interpreter that speaks the base language and the third-party language. The second interpreter is engaged to the language interpretation call. The third party is engaged to the language interpretation call. Over-the-phone interpretation of the caller language and the third-party language is performed.

    Abstract: An intelligent abbreviated dialing feature can use a portion of a phone number as a shortcut to dialing. Any portion of a phone number can be input into a communications device such as by pressing buttons on the keypad or speaking into a microphone. A processor in the communications device or on a network accessible by the communications device can generate the phone number register from frequently dialed numbers. The processor can compare the input into the communications device against the phone number register. For each digit of the phone number that is input into the communications device, the processor can search the phone numbers and provide search results with the corresponding numbers. A phone number can be selected from the search results and dialed.
