Abstract:
The medical instrument includes a male instrument connector, which includes at least one male fluid connector arranged on a flat face. A venting bore may also be arranged on the same face and disposed to act as pressure relief by which leaking fluids that accumulate in the instrument can be discharged. A cover cap may be attached to the face. The cover cap allows for sterilization of the instrument, including the male instrument connector.
Abstract:
A permanent electrical contact applicable to the web of rails. The contact comprises a bush in electrically conductive material having a tubular stem suitable for inserting in a hole in the web of a rail, a flanged head radially widened compared to the stem and suitable for engaging in abutment with a portion surrounding the hole, and an axial through hole in which a punch can be inserted to expand the tubular stem radially and join a radially outer surface of the stem closely with the hole. At least a portion of the outer surface of the stem is substantially made of a first conductive metal and at least a portion of the flanged head is substantially made of a second conductive metal different from the first conductive metal.
Abstract:
A silencer includes: a hollow main body to be inserted in a bell of a wind instrument and including (a) a rear end portion serving as an opening portion and (b) a front end portion serving as a closing portion; and a flow-path adjuster supported by the main body in the bell and configured to narrow a path through which a breath of a player of the wind instrument is delivered into the main body. The front end portion of the main body is located near a frontmost portion of the bell or at a rear of the frontmost portion in a state in which the main body in mounted in the bell.
Abstract:
A photovoltaic module lead foil connection system includes a wire having a fastener. The system can include a cord plate on a surface of the photovoltaic module where a conductive lead is adjacent to the module at the cord plate. The conductive lead provides external electrical access to the photovoltaic module. The system can include a fastener configured to electrically connect an end of a wire to the conductive lead at a junction mount within the cord plate.
Abstract:
A tumor marker comprising diacetylspermine, and a method of evaluating the state of a tumor, comprising reacting an antibody to diacetylspermine with a biological sample to thereby detect diacetylspermine and evaluating the state of the tumor using the obtained detection results as an indicator.
Abstract:
In the method suitable for tissue fusion or coagulation after the commencement of treatment of the tissue, i.e., after completion of a first phase, a second phase is commenced, during which the biological tissue is treated with moderate energy for a certain specified process time. The specification of a functional relationship between the tissue resistance and the output voltage of a supplying source enables the process in phase II to not fall below a minimum treatment time, avoiding premature drying-out of the tissue. A sufficient and reliable bonding of the participating proteins in a moist milieu is reached.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and a method for distending a body tissue cavity of a subject by continuous flow irrigation such that minimal or negligible fluid turbulence is present inside the cavity, such that any desired cavity pressure can be created and maintained for any desired outflow rate. The present invention also provides a method for accurately determining the rate of fluid loss, into the subject's body system, during any endoscopic procedure without utilizing any deficit weight or fluid volume calculation or flow rate sensor. The system and the methods of the present invention described above can be used in any endoscopic procedure requiring continuous flow irrigation few examples of such endoscopic procedures being hysteroscopic surgery, arthroscopic surgery, trans uretheral surgery, endoscopic surgery of the brain and endoscopic surgery of the spine.
Abstract:
A standing wave attenuation device is installed in a cabin of a vehicle so as to reduce a standing wave caused by external noise such as road noise. The standing wave attenuation device provides a closed loop including a feedback comb filter with a feedback loop, a microphone, a speaker, and a delay element. The delay element adjusts the phase of the output signal of the feedback comb filter such that the time needed for one-time circulation of a signal through the feedback loop matches a half period of the standing wave. An original sound including the standing wave is picked up by the microphone and subjected to processing so that the speaker produces a sound wave with the inverse phase against the phase of a sound wave constituting the standing wave, so that the standing wave is canceled out by the sound wave emitted from the speaker.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a diagnostic test for inflammatory endothelial dysfunctions in pregnant women. Particularly, the present invention relates to a method of diagnosing or evaluating the risk of contracting an inflammatory endothelial dysfunction of the maternal compartment comprising the following steps: a) detecting the plasma levels of long pentraxin PTX3 in blood samples taken from a pregnant woman; b) comparing the PTX3 plasma level data, obtained according to step a), with statistically significant PTX3 plasma level data of normal pregnant population.
Abstract:
Method for the preparation of a catalysed particulate filter and a particulate filter. The method comprises the steps of a) providing a catalyst wash coat with a first catalyst active in burning off of soot and a second catalyst active in selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides; b) coating a particulate filter body with the catalyst wash coat on the dispersion side and the permeate side of the filter body and within partition walls of the filter body; and c) drying and heat treating the coated filter body to obtain the catalysed particulate filter.
