    摘要: A production assembly tool for securing fasteners to a workpiece such as an automobile body. The production assembly tool of the present invention includes a housing which encases a motor, a transmission, a clutch mechanism and a control module. The control module controls the running and braking of the motor and prevents both over and under securing of a fastener caused by falsely detected tool clutch conditions. An improved clutch sensor switch is operatively associated with the control module for detecting clutch disengagement. The clutch mechanism is designed to drive the fastener until the clutch sensor switch detects clutch disengagement and signals the control circuit to stop drive and start braking. The production assembly tool further includes a system for ensuring accurate placement of the power tool motor in the power tool housing subsequent to motor servicing or repair. Further, an adjustment collar located in the tool nose allows selective access to a clutch adjustment mechanism of the tool located within the housing for torque level adjustment. In addition, the tool housing is covered by an integral, self-sealing non-marring overmold exterior. The overmold exterior allows a lubrication needle to be inserted through an aperture located beneath the overmold exterior. After the needle is removed, the overmold exterior subsequently self-seals, thereby preventing dirt from entering the interior of the tool housing and the applied lubrication from leaking.

    摘要: The present invention is directed toward a shield assembly for a handheld tool device such as an angle grinder. The shield assembly is selectively repositionable with respect to the cutting tool. A lock mechanism secures the shield assembly in discrete rotational positions relative to the cutting tool. The shield assembly includes a guard member and a bumper member, and an alignment feature configured to align the relative positions of guard member and the bumper member, thereby positing the members in a predetermined relative orientation. With this configuration, the shield assembly is selectively repositionable via a “hands-free” mechanism that permits a user to adjust the position of the shield assembly by simply contacting the shield assembly against a work surface.

An electronic clutch may interrupt the input current to the motor if the power take off mechanism is in the CHUCK MODE and if the input current exceeds a trip value.

    摘要: A method for calibrating a power tool having a roller, a driver and a solenoid. The solenoid has a body and a rod and is coupled to the roller so as to be capable of selectively advancing the roller toward the driver. The method includes: locating the roller onto a predetermined portion of the driver; moving the body of the solenoid in a first direction until the occurrence of a first predetermined condition, the first direction being in a direction that causes the roller to be driven toward the driver; after the occurrence of the first predetermined condition, moving the body of the solenoid in a second direction opposite the first direction until the occurrence of a second predetermined condition and thereafter securing the body of the solenoid to inhibit further movement of the body of the solenoid.

The motor assembly and the transmission assembly are secured against rotation in the housing. A plurality of protrusions extends from a component of the transmission assembly. The power tool further includes an output spindle and a spindle lock assembly that connects the output spindle to the transmission assembly. The spindle lock assembly includes an anvil, an outer ring member and a plurality of roller members. The roller members and the protrusions are disposed between the anvil and the outer ring member. An indicator member extends from the outer ring member. A compliant member connects the outer ring member to an interior portion of the housing. A scale is connected to an exterior portion of the housing, wherein the indicator member moves relative to the scale to indicate a value of torque at the output spindle.
