Abstract:
One embodiment is a unique replaceable filter element. Further embodiments, forms, objects, features, advantages, aspects, and benefits shall become apparent from the following description and drawings.
Abstract:
A filter within a filter cartridge design is described that includes a sealing structure on an endplate of an outer filter element. Generally, the sealing structure includes an annular flange on the endplate that can directly seal against an interior surface of a housing when the filter cartridge is assembled for use. During filtration, the annular flange prevents a working fluid from bypassing the outer filter element. The sealing flange can seal with the housing in a press fit engagement.
Abstract:
A filter apparatus for filtering fluid in an internal combustion engine, the filter apparatus including annular full flow filter media extending axially between a first end and a second end. The full flow filter media surrounds a reinforcing member which extends axially between the first end and the second end and includes a plurality of axially spaced apart circumferential connecting segments. The circumferential connecting segments extend between a plurality of substantially axially extending ribs which connect the reinforcing member to a radially inwardly spaced bypass tube. The reinforcing member also includes a plurality of flow apertures defined by the connecting segments and the ribs.
Abstract:
A replaceable cartridge for use with a filter housing having a substantially closed dome end and a head end. The cartridge comprises a filter media connected to and extending between a head end endplate and a dome end endplate. The dome end endplate includes means for mating with the filter housing. The filter housing comprises a canister extending between a substantially open head end and a substantially closed dome end. The canister has an interior surface that includes corresponding means for engaging the filter cartridge. The means for engaging the cartridge is positioned substantially adjacent the dome end.
Abstract:
A disposable, all-plastic centrifuge rotor for fluid processing includes a unitary, molded plastic upper rotor portion that includes a rotor shaft spud. A unitary, molded plastic lower rotor portion is provided and is joined to the upper rotor portion so as to define a hollow rotor interior. Positioned within the hollow rotor interior is a unitary baseplate that is joined to the lower rotor portion and includes a rotor shaft spud. The rotor shaft spud of the unitary baseplate extends through the lower rotor portion and beyond the lower rotor portion and is coaxial with the rotor shaft spud of the upper rotor portion. A spiral vane element is positioned in the rotor interior and is captured between the upper rotor portion and the baseplate for fluid processing as the centrifuge rotor rotates at a high RPM rate.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge endplate (12) is described herein that has an integrated flow structure. For example, the integrated flow structure has concentric flow portions disposed at a center of the endplate (12), where a separator (10) is built into the endplate (12) that separates fluid flow. The endplate (12) includes a plate with a major surface, a separator (10) that protrudes axially away from the major surface. The separator (10) includes a first flow portion (14) and a second flow portion (16), where the first flow portion (14) is disposed radially inward relative to the second flow portion (16). The first flow portion (14) includes a channel (22) and the second flow portion includes a channel (24). The respective channels (22,24) are configured to allow axial fluid flow relative to the plate, and configured to allow fluid flow that is localized toward the center of the plate (12).

Abstract:
A disposable, spin-on fluid filter for mounting to a fluid-directing head includes a molded housing having a closed base and a sidewall defining a hollow cavity. Filtering media is positioned within the hollow cavity and a nutplate is joined to the housing so as to enclose the filtering media. The nutplate includes a plurality of inlet flow openings and a lobed sleeve extending into the filtering media. An endplate is joined to the filtering media including a flange portion and a sleeve portion. The fluid filter includes an elastomeric valve having a first portion positioned between the flange portion and the inlet flow openings and a second portion positioned between the sleeve portion and the lobed sleeve. The valve provides an anti-drain back capability and in cooperation with the lobed sleeve provides a filtering media by-pass capability.

Abstract:
A filter assembly where the filter cartridge is secured to the nutplate and a seal is provided between the filter cartridge and the nutplate. The sealing relationship between the filter cartridge and the nutplate is maintained during use of the filter assembly without using a spring engaged with the filter cartridge that biases the filter cartridge into engagement with the nutplate.
