A process for producing a high-purity hafnium amide includes the steps of (a) adding a compound which contains a carbonyl group or sulfonyl group and is represented by the formula of A(OyXOnRf)m (e.g., CF3SO3H, Hf(CF3SO3)4, (CF3SO2)2O, CF3CO2H, CH3SO3H, C6H5SO3H, and (CH3SO2)2O), to a crude hafnium amide which is represented by the formula of Hf[N(R1)(R2)]4, where each of R1 and R2 independently represents a methyl group or ethyl group, and which contains a zirconium component as an impurity; and (b) subjecting a product of the step (a) to a distillation under reduced pressure, thereby removing the zirconium component from the crude hafnium amide.

On both substrates (108, 101) parallel alignment films (106, 103), consisting of polyimide alignment films, are each made, but rubbing treatment is not administered. Between the substrates (108. 101) polymer dispersion liquid crystal, in which liquid crystal (105) and polymer (104) are in a state of mutual orientation dispersion, is placed. Liquid crystal (105) is parallel oriented randomly near the substrate surfaces, and twisted approximately 90.degree. between the substrates (101, 108). Also, the orientation domains from the liquid crystal random orientation are evenly multidomained at the level of approximately 1-3 .mu.m. Because they are randomly oriented in this way, directivity of scatter is improved, and operation voltage is decreased.

Transparent pixel electrodes, composed of indium tin oxide (ITO), are formed on a substrate, a polyimide film is formed on another substrate, and orientation processing is conducted in the same direction over the entire surface. A polymer dispersion liquid crystal is provided between these two substrates. The liquid crystal does not contain a chiral agent. The liquid crystal is divided into a left twist area having a left twist orientation state and a right twist area having a right twist orientation state. Between the substrates, the polymer and the liquid crystal are mutually orientation dispersed.

The pyrimidine derivatives may be included in liquid crystal compositions for improved display devices having a wide temperature range, including a high N-I point, a low threshold voltage and a low driving voltage.

The total amount of water in the liquid chemical is no greater than 1000 mass ppm relative to the total amount of the liquid chemical. The liquid chemical can improve a cleaning step that easily induces pattern collapse.

The additional-audio generation section (1510) includes a plurality of processing means (1511 and 1512) depending on a trade-off between the amount of load of computation process in the processing and acoustic properties of a processing result. The control section (1100) identifies one of the plurality of processing means (1511 and 1512) based on the reproduction-instruction information and the decoding information. The additional-audio generation section (1510) processes the additional audio data by the processing means identified by the control section (1100).
