Abstract: A film, preferably, a multi-layered film, including a polymer composition, wherein the polymer composition includes: within a range from 1 wt % to 25 wt % of a cyclic olefin copolymer based on the weight of the polymer composition, and within a range from 75 wt % to 99 wt % (the remainder of material) of a polyethylene based on the weight of the polymer composition, wherein the cyclic olefin copolymer has a glass transition temperature (T.sub.g) of at least 80.degree. C. The films may be used in shrink packaging application.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides copolymers comprising from about 0.5 wt % to about 25 wt % cyclic olefin content and films comprising the copolymers. In one embodiment, a copolymer includes a C2-C40 monomer content of from about 75 wt % to about 99.5 wt %; and a C5-C40 cyclic olefin comonomer content of from about 0.5 wt % to about 25 wt %. The copolymer has a density of about 0.91 g/cm3 to about 0.933 g/cm3. Films of the present disclosure can have advantageous mechanical properties (such as melt strength) and optical properties (such as haze %).

Abstract: In an embodiment, a monolayer, sealable film includes polyethylene; and between about 0.2 wt % and about 10 wt % of a branched cyclic olefin copolymer (bCOC) comprising: between about 50 wt % to about 98 wt % ethylene; and between about 2 wt % and about 50 wt % cyclic olefin derived monomer units. In another embodiment, a receptacle for containing organic material (such as food), gas, and/or fluent material includes a storage zone; a sealing zone extending around at least a portion of the storage zone; and a film structure having an exterior surface and a storage side surface facing the storage zone, wherein the film structure comprises a gas barrier film, comprising: polyethylene; and between about 0.2 wt % and about 10 wt % of a branched cyclic olefin copolymer (bCOC) comprising: between about 50 wt % and about 98 wt % ethylene; and between about 2 wt % and about 50 wt % cyclic olefin derived monomer units.

The polyethylene compositions can be formed into useful articles such as films and injection molded and thermoformed articles.

Abstract: A functionalized polyolefin and a tire tread composition comprising the functionalized polyolefin is described. The functionalized polyolefin comprises a vinyl/vinylidene-terminated polyolefin in which the vinyl/vinylidene terminus is functionalized with an alkoxysilane or an alkylsilane and optionally having ether, hydroxyl and/or amine functionality. The invention is also directed to the synthesis of vinyl/vinylidene-terminated polyolefins, functionalization at the vinyl/vinylidene terminus with an alkoxysilane or an alkylsilane and optionally having ether, hydroxyl and/or amine functionality.

Abstract: A process for making a branched cyclic olefin copolymer (bCOC), and the bCOC therefrom, comprising combining at a temperature within a range from 60° C. to 140° C. a catalyst precursor and an activator with a feed comprising ethylene and at least one cyclic olefin; where the catalyst precursor is selected from the group consisting of CS-symmetric Group 4 metallocenes comprising any two ligands selected from cyclopentadienyl and ligands isolobal to the cyclopentadienyl group. The resulting bCOC is desirably semi-crystalline and useful in such articles as tubing, thermoformed and foamed articles.
