In these solvents the active compound is soluble up to about 60% by weight. Such a solution is particularly suitable for loading pharmaceutical carriers with this active compound.

The invention relates to a bone implant which comprises a magnesium-containing metallic material having a reduced corrosion rate and inorganic bone cement, and to methods and a kit for producing the bone implant. With a method according to the invention, it is possible to obtain a bone implant which comprises inorganic bone cement and a magnesium-containing metallic material with a corrosion-inhibiting coating which contains magnesium-ammonium phosphates. In the method according to the invention, a magnesium-containing metallic material, of which the surface has a magnesium oxide layer and/or a magnesium salt layer, is combined with inorganic bone cement in order to generate a solid composite material that comprises the inorganic bone cement and the magnesium-containing metallic material. The inorganic bone cement contains inorganic powder constituents, which set in the presence of water to form a solid, and water-soluble phosphate-ion-containing salts, preferably water-soluble phosphate-ion-containing and ammonium-ion-containing salts. According to the invention, the magnesium-containing metallic material is brought into contact with water before and/or during the combination with the inorganic bone cement in the presence pt of water-soluble ammonium-ion-containing and phosphate-ion-containing salts. Moreover, the inorganic bone cement is set by being brought into contact with water.

The invention relates to a novel bioactive and osteoconductive bone cement and a method for producing the same from polyacrylates or polymethylacrylates by addition of small amounts of polymerizable monomers containing anionic groups which cause the cement surface to mineralize after being incubated in simulated body fluid and in which the obtained mineralized layers contain calcium phosphate phases such that the formation of fibrous intermediate layers is prevented once the bone cement has been implanted in bones. Optionally, other additives, e.g. biocompatible calcium salts, and/or biocompatible buffering substances, or x-ray contrast agents, antibiotics, antimicrobial agents, and/or anti-inflammatory agents can be added in order to improve the properties of the cement for individual purposes. The invention also relates to the use of the bone cement according to the invention for anchoring prosthesis components in the bone, stiffening bones, filling and reconstructing all types of bone defects, as dowels for bone screws, or as an implant material for anchoring screws and other implants used for osteosynthesis.

Bone cements containing polyacrylates or polymethacrylates and an X-ray contrast medium can be prepared by functionalizing the X-ray contrast medium with (meth)acrylate groups prior to being coating with melamine-formaldehyde resin and subsequent polymerization. The invention resultant bone cement can be used for anchoring prosthesis components in bone, for stiffening bone, as bone screw fixing plug and as implants for anchoring screws.

The cements exhibit a concentration of active principle not exceeding 1 wt. % relative to the total weight of the cement, which is a concentration sufficiently high to prevent microbial colonization of the cement surface. The cements do not cause durable alteration of the healing process.
